Unnatural Death Case Under Investigation
The probe pertains to an unnatural death case registered at West Agartala Police Station.
An official order issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police stated that the SIT had been constituted to ensure a comprehensive, coordinated and expeditious investigation into the incident.
Officials have maintained that the inquiry will proceed scientifically and impartially, with every available piece of evidence being examined before any conclusions are drawn.
Police Urge Public Not to Speculate
The death of DGP Anurag Dhankar has triggered intense public discussion, with various reports and rumours circulating on social media and other platforms.
However, neither the Tripura Government nor the state police have officially confirmed many of these claims.
Senior police officials have reportedly described several circulating reports as speculative and appealed to the public to refrain from drawing conclusions until the investigation is completed.
Family Angle Also Under Examination
Police sources indicated that investigators are also examining whether family-related issues may have played any role in the alleged suicide.
However, officials stressed that no conclusive findings have been reached so far. The exact cause and circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation, and authorities have refrained from making any official statement regarding possible motives.
Investigation to Continue on Evidence
Given the seniority of the officer and the sensitivity of the case, the Tripura Government has emphasised that the investigation will be conducted with complete fairness, transparency and professionalism.
Officials have reiterated that any action or conclusions will be based solely on evidence collected during the investigation. Until the SIT completes its inquiry and submits its report, the circumstances surrounding DGP Anurag Dhankar’s death will continue to remain under official investigation.
