New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is marking 100 years of its establishment with a two-day centenary programme at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, culminating today, October 1, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to address the gathering.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the programme at 11 am on October 1 and release a UPSC Centenary Commemorative Coin, a commemorative postage stamp and a book titled ‘100 Landmark Judgements – Shaping the Policies of UPSC and Public Service Commissions in India’, according to the Press Information Bureau.
UPSC Centenary Celebrations Culminate on October 1
The programme marks 100 years since the establishment of the Public Service Commission on October 1, 1926. The year-long centenary celebrations began on October 1, 2025, and are concluding with the programme at Bharat Mandapam.

The event will bring together stakeholders associated with public service recruitment and administration, including chairpersons and members of State Public Service Commissions, senior government officers, academicians and UPSC officials.
Book to Compile 100 Landmark Judgments
The book being released by the Prime Minister, ‘100 Landmark Judgements – Shaping the Policies of UPSC and Public Service Commissions in India’, will compile 100 judicial decisions relating to the policies and functioning of the UPSC and Public Service Commissions in India.
The book has been prepared as part of the centenary programme and reflects the role of judicial decisions in shaping the institutional framework governing public service commissions. The official PIB release identifies it as one of the three commemorative items to be released on October 1.
‘Shatabdi Samaroh – Manthan’ Focuses on Future of Civil Services
The first day of the two-day programme, September 30, features ‘Shatabdi Samaroh – Manthan’ at Bharat Mandapam. The programme includes addresses by speakers and panel discussions on various themes concerning public service and administration.
The discussions focused on the evolving role of civil services, innovation in public administration and institutional values. UPSC Chairman Dr Ajay Kumar outlined the Commission’s next phase around Trust, Transparency and Technology and also discussed examination reforms and measures such as digital e-admit cards and face authentication.
The programme includes participation from State Public Service Commission members, senior government officials, academicians and other stakeholders.
