Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh created a new record of public participation on the 12th International Day of Yoga. More than 1.42 crore students from government schools across the state took part in mass yoga sessions, reinforcing the government’s vision of making yoga a people’s movement.
The large-scale participation showcased yoga as an integral part of school education, public health, and social awareness across both rural and urban areas of the state.
Massive Participation Across 1.32 Lakh Schools
As part of the celebrations, students from 1.32 lakh council schools and 746 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) participated in the yoga programme.
In KGBVs alone, more than 78,000 girl students joined the group yoga sessions.
From villages to cities, school campuses were filled with enthusiasm as students, teachers, education staff, officials, and parents collectively performed yoga and pledged to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Yoga Becomes a Mass Movement in Uttar Pradesh
Officials said that consistent efforts under CM Yogi Adityanath have helped integrate yoga into school education and public awareness programmes.
What was once a formal observance has now transformed into a large-scale public movement, with widespread participation from educational institutions across the state.
The Yoga Day celebrations were marked by discipline, enthusiasm, and active engagement at district, block, and school levels.
SCERT Organises Special Yoga Session in Lucknow
A special yoga programme was held at the new campus of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow.
The session was led by SCERT Director Ganesh Kumar, where teachers, officials, and staff performed yoga and pledged to make it a part of their daily routine.
Yoga Promotes Discipline, Focus and Positive Thinking
SCERT Director Ganesh Kumar highlighted that yoga is not just a physical activity but a holistic practice that strengthens mental focus, self-discipline, and positive thinking.
He said that promoting yoga at the school level helps in developing healthier, more confident, and balanced personalities among children.
Special Yoga Sessions Held Across Major Districts
Special yoga sessions were organised across several districts including:
- Lucknow
- Gautam Buddha Nagar
- Kanpur Nagar
- Ayodhya
- Varanasi
- Mathura
- Basti
- Meerut
- Kushinagar
- Aligarh
- Azamgarh
At each location, students practiced various asanas, pranayama, and meditation under the guidance of teachers and instructors.
Yoga Integrated with Education and Health Development
Officials emphasized that quality education must go hand in hand with physical and mental development. For this reason, yoga, sports, and health-related activities are being continuously promoted in schools across Uttar Pradesh.
The overwhelming participation this year reflects that yoga has become a symbol of discipline, wellness, concentration, and positive lifestyle among students.
