Ayodhya: Ayodhya has evolved from a symbol of neglect to a global hub of spirituality, culture, and development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Friday while addressing a major development ceremony in the temple city. The event marked the inauguration and foundation laying of 245 development projects worth over ₹290 crore under the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Ramayana Wax Museum and a zonal office building of the municipal corporation, along with releasing a development booklet showcasing ongoing progress in the city.

From Struggle to Growth: CM Recalls Ayodhya’s Past

CM Yogi reflected on his early visits to Ayodhya nearly four decades ago, recalling the tense atmosphere during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He said the city then witnessed fear, silence, and a lack of supportive governance.

He credited generations associated with Gorakshapeeth and Ram devotees for their struggle and sacrifice, which, according to him, shaped history and paved the way for the present transformation of Ayodhya.

Massive Infrastructure Push Worth Over ₹35,000 Crore

The Chief Minister stated that the Uttar Pradesh government has approved development projects worth more than ₹35,000 crore for Ayodhya. He emphasized that the state has ensured that funds have never been a constraint in the city’s transformation.

He also announced that he would revisit Ayodhya soon to review ongoing work and future development plans.

Ayodhya’s Global Image Strengthened by Ram Mandir

Highlighting the construction of the grand Ram Temple, CM Yogi said that Ayodhya residents are fortunate to witness the divine transformation of Lord Ram’s birthplace.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the realization of the Ram Mandir project, stating that it has significantly enhanced Ayodhya’s global recognition and spiritual significance.

Deepotsav Transformed Ayodhya’s Identity

Recalling the condition of Ayodhya in 2017, the Chief Minister said the city suffered from narrow lanes, poor sanitation, irregular electricity supply, and neglected riverfront areas.

He said the launch of Deepotsav marked a turning point, transforming Ayodhya into a globally recognized festival destination now attended by millions of devotees and tourists each year.

Modern Infrastructure: Roads, Airport, and Smart City Projects

CM Yogi highlighted that Ayodhya is now connected through:

  • Four-lane highways
  • Double railway lines
  • An international airport

He said these developments have turned Ayodhya into a modern and accessible global pilgrimage city.

He also emphasized ongoing smart city initiatives, Integrated Command and Control Systems, traffic management projects, and urban beautification efforts.

Allegations of Attempts to Defame Ayodhya

The Chief Minister alleged that certain groups are still trying to spread misinformation and damage Ayodhya’s image.

He said the same groups earlier questioned the existence of Lord Ram and opposed devotees, and now continue to create social divisions and negativity around the city’s development.

Innovation in Municipal Projects Across Uttar Pradesh

CM Yogi praised Ayodhya Municipal Corporation for its innovative initiatives, including the PPP-model-based Ramayana Wax Museum.

He also cited similar projects in other cities:

  • Shivling Park in Prayagraj
  • Navagrah-themed installation in Jhansi
  • Ramayana and Constitution-themed gardens in Moradabad

He suggested enhancing visitor experience in Ayodhya’s Ramayana-themed spaces with digital screens playing verses from the Ramayana.

Environmental Appeal: ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’

Emphasizing environmental conservation, the Chief Minister warned about possible water scarcity due to El Niño effects.

He urged citizens to participate in the “One Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign by planting fruit-bearing, medicinal, shade-giving, and timber trees.

He also proposed the development of a Ramayana-era themed garden in Ayodhya.

Public Asset Protection for Future Generations

CM Yogi appealed to citizens to protect public infrastructure and civic assets, stating that sustainable development depends on proper maintenance and preservation.

He stressed that safeguarding newly built facilities is essential for long-term benefits for future generations.

Recognition of Sanitation Workers

During the event, the Chief Minister honored sanitation workers Lalita Devi, Ragini, and Geeta Devi for their outstanding contributions to cleanliness and civic services in Ayodhya.

Dignitaries in Attendance

The event was attended by several senior leaders and public representatives, including:

  • Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi
  • Mayor Mahant Girish Pati Tripathi
  • Several MLAs and district officials
  • BJP district president Radheshyam Tyagi
  • Former MLAs and local representatives

Ayodhya’s Rise as a Model Spiritual City

The event underscored Ayodhya’s rapid transformation into a modern spiritual and cultural hub. With massive infrastructure investments, religious tourism growth, and large-scale urban development projects, the city is being positioned as one of India’s most significant heritage and smart cities.
