Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the newly constructed Late Deepak Pundir Memorial Community Hall in Purukul village, Dehradun, on Tuesday. During the event, he also laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth ₹17.80 crore aimed at improving infrastructure and public facilities in the Mussoorie Assembly constituency.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described the occasion as a historic milestone for the constituency, stating that the projects would significantly enhance development and improve the quality of life for local residents.

He said the initiatives were not merely about constructing buildings but represented a strong foundation for the area’s long-term growth and prosperity.

₹17.80 Crore Projects to Boost Regional Development

Dhami said the newly launched projects are designed to strengthen public infrastructure and provide better civic amenities across the region.

According to the Chief Minister, these projects will:

  • Improve local infrastructure and public facilities.
  • Support long-term regional development.
  • Enhance connectivity and community services.
  • Benefit residents through better civic amenities.

He emphasized that the investments would accelerate the area’s economic and social progress in the coming years.

Uttarakhand Advancing Rapidly Under PM Modi’s Leadership

Highlighting the state’s overall development, Chief Minister Dhami credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for Uttarakhand’s steady progress across multiple sectors.

He said the state is achieving significant growth in infrastructure, public welfare, and economic development while emerging as a leading performer in several areas at the national level.

According to Dhami, the combined efforts of the Central and State Governments are helping transform Uttarakhand through continuous development initiatives.

CM Welcomes Kanwar Pilgrims in Haridwar

Later in the day, the Chief Minister visited Haridwar to welcome Kanwar pilgrims participating in the ongoing Shravan Kanwar Yatra. The annual pilgrimage sees millions of Lord Shiva devotees collect holy water from the River Ganga—particularly at Har Ki Pauri—and carry it to Shiva temples across the country.

Dhami congratulated doctors, nursing staff, health department officials, police personnel, and volunteer organizations for their dedicated service to pilgrims throughout the yatra. He described the Kanwar Yatra as not only a festival of faith but also a symbol of service, discipline, dedication, and social harmony.

Over One Crore Devotees Complete Kanwar Yatra

The Chief Minister announced that more than one crore Shiva devotees have successfully completed their pilgrimage this year.

He expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the yatra and praised the coordinated efforts of government departments, security agencies, healthcare workers, and volunteers in ensuring a safe and well-organized pilgrimage.

Kedarnath Yatra: Administration Strengthens Emergency Preparedness

Meanwhile, the Rudraprayag district administration has taken extensive measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential commodities during the ongoing Kedarnath Yatra and to tackle any emergency situations caused by adverse weather or landslides.

Food and Civil Supplies Officer K.S. Kohli said the administration has proactively distributed three months’ ration to beneficiaries, covering supplies up to September 30.

He added that the ration allocation for October has already been released and distribution will begin within the next two days to ensure timely delivery.

Essential Supplies Stocked Along Kedarnath Route

To support pilgrims and local residents, authorities have also supplied two months’ ration to all walking sectors along the Kedarnath Yatra route.

The administration has pre-positioned emergency supplies in landslide-prone areas, including:

  • Drinking water bottles
  • Bread
  • Biscuits
  • Tetra-packed milk for children

Additionally, dry food kits have been prepared and stored in every tehsil. These kits can be distributed within 2–3 hours through pre-identified vendors if any emergency situation arises.

Officials said these measures are aimed at ensuring uninterrupted support for pilgrims and residents during the yatra season.

Government Focuses on Development and Pilgrim Safety

The latest initiatives reflect the Uttarakhand Government’s dual focus on accelerating regional development while ensuring the smooth management of major religious pilgrimages.

With new infrastructure projects, improved public facilities, comprehensive arrangements for the Kanwar Yatra, and enhanced emergency preparedness for the Kedarnath Yatra, the state government aims to strengthen both public welfare and tourism infrastructure across Uttarakhand.
