Dehradun: In a significant administrative overhaul, the Uttarakhand government has reshuffled responsibilities of 18 senior police officers, including nine Indian Police Service (IPS) and nine Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers.

The Home Department issued the transfer orders on Friday, with changes implemented across key policing divisions including Crime, Law and Order, CID, SDRF, Cyber Crime, Traffic, and the Kumaon Range.

The reshuffle is being viewed as part of preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027 and efforts to further strengthen law and order management across the state.

Nivedita Kukreti Appointed IG Kumaon Zone

One of the most notable changes in the reshuffle is the appointment of 2008 batch IPS officer Nivedita Kukreti as the Inspector General (IG) of the Kumaon Zone.

Key focus areas include:

  • Crowd management and event security
  • Cybercrime prevention
  • Traffic regulation and coordination

  • Intelligence and surveillance strengthening

The government has directed all officers to assume their new responsibilities immediately to ensure smooth transition and operational readiness.
