Dehradun: In a significant administrative overhaul, the Uttarakhand government has reshuffled responsibilities of 18 senior police officers, including nine Indian Police Service (IPS) and nine Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers.
The Home Department issued the transfer orders on Friday, with changes implemented across key policing divisions including Crime, Law and Order, CID, SDRF, Cyber Crime, Traffic, and the Kumaon Range.
The reshuffle is being viewed as part of preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027 and efforts to further strengthen law and order management across the state.
Nivedita Kukreti Appointed IG Kumaon Zone
One of the most notable changes in the reshuffle is the appointment of 2008 batch IPS officer Nivedita Kukreti as the Inspector General (IG) of the Kumaon Zone.

She has been relieved from her previous responsibility as IG of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and assigned a key field leadership role in one of Uttarakhand’s most strategically important policing zones.
The Kumaon region covers sensitive border areas, tourist destinations, and major urban centers, making the posting operationally significant.
Major Changes in IPS-Level Responsibilities
The Home Department has reassigned key responsibilities among nine IPS officers across multiple critical departments:
- Vimmi Sachdeva, 2003 batch IPS, appointed IG, Police Telecommunications and Fire Services
- Riddhim Aggarwal appointed IG, Crime and Law & Order / CCTNS / SCRB
- Krishna Kumar V.K. appointed IG, Traffic and GRP
- Nilesh Anand Bharne relieved from IG PAC and Sports Board Secretary; assigned IG Cyber Crime/STF/ANTF
- Anant Shankar Takwale appointed IG, Training and State Human Rights Commission; additional charge of CID
- Sunil Kumar Meena reassigned as IG Personnel, PAC and Police Sports Board Secretary
- Yogendra Singh Rawat assigned IG, Kumbh Mela 2027 and IG SDRF
- Nivedita Kukreti appointed IG, Kumaon Range
- Barinderjit Singh appointed IG, Headquarters and Procurement & Maintenance
Officials said the reshuffle aims to improve coordination across operational, administrative, and specialised policing wings.

Alongside IPS-level changes, nine Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers have also been transferred to new roles across battalions, intelligence, traffic, and CID units.

- Harish Verma transferred to Commandant, 1st IRB Ramnagar
- Amit Srivastava posted as SP, CID Sector Dehradun
- Jitendra Chaudhary posted as SP (Crime and Traffic), Dehradun
- Bir Singh transferred to Deputy Commandant, 1st IRB Ramnagar
- Lokjeet Singh appointed ASP (Crime, Law & Order and Grievances), Police Headquarters
- Vimal Acharya transferred to Deputy Commandant, 40th Battalion PAC Rudrapur
- Shantanu Parashar appointed ASP Cyber Crime
- Ankush Mishra appointed ASP Intelligence and Security Headquarters

Officials stated that the reshuffle is strategically aligned with preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, which requires extensive security and administrative planning.
