New Delhi: Ms. Vartika Shukla, Chairman and Managing Director of Engineers India Limited (EIL), was awarded the prestigious Women’s Leadership Award in Engineering and Sustainable Technology at the 5th Edition of the IOGTC 2025 Upstream Conference. This honor recognizes her outstanding contributions to the oil and gas industry, particularly in technology development, process engineering, and project management.
With an illustrious career spanning more than 36 years, she has been a transformative figure in the industry. Ms Shukla, an IIT Kanpur alumna with a degree in Chemical Engineering (1988) and an Executive General Management certification from IIM Lucknow, began her career at EIL as a management trainee in the Process Division. Over the course of more than 32 years, she has built a remarkable career in technical consultancy and project execution across the hydrocarbon value chain, successfully leading numerous critical projects in refining, petrochemicals, and fertilizers, both in India and abroad.
Her visionary leadership has helped EIL become a leading Engineering Consultancy and EPC company, driving growth in hydrocarbon and sustainable energy solutions across India and globally.
As Director (Technical), she has guided the Process Design, R&D, and engineering functions at EIL, playing a key role in advancing initiatives such as biofuels, digitalization, energy efficiency, and indigenous technology development under the Make in India and Start-Up India missions
Her leadership has been instrumental in forging strategic partnerships and expanding EIL’s technological capabilities. She is also actively involved in industry bodies such as FIPI, CII, and FICCI and has contributed to the editorial board of the FIPI Journal.
Ms. Shukla’s journey in the oil and gas industry has been marked by groundbreaking achievements that have made a lasting impact, inspiring many women and professionals to follow in her footsteps. Her leadership continues to inspire the industry as she spearheads innovations that shape the future of energy solutions, while also contributing to India’s growing presence in the global energy market.
She has also received several prestigious accolades, including the SCOPE Excellence Award, the MoPNG Innovation Award, and the PETROFED Woman Executive Award. In 2021, IIT Kanpur recognized her achievements by conferring the Distinguished Alumnus Award upon her.
The Women’s Leadership Award presented to Ms. Shukla is a testament to her dedication, pioneering spirit, and commitment to advancing engineering and sustainable technology, ensuring a more energy-efficient and sustainable future.
