Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the newly constructed Kachna Railway Overbridge in Raipur, marking a significant boost to the city’s infrastructure and traffic management system. Along with the overbridge, he also inaugurated the widening of the Shankar Nagar–Khamhardih–Kachna road project, built at a cost of ₹22.79 crore.
The Chief Minister dedicated both projects to the public, stating that the state government is prioritizing strong and modern infrastructure development across Chhattisgarh.
Relief from Traffic Congestion at Kachna Railway Crossing
CM Sai highlighted that the Kachna railway crossing had long been a major traffic bottleneck, causing frequent congestion and delays for commuters.
With the inauguration of the overbridge, residents will now experience:
- Smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow
- Reduced congestion at the railway crossing
- Safer and faster connectivity between key areas
He said the project fulfills a long-pending demand of residents of Kachna, Khamhardih, and nearby colonies.
Key Urban Connectivity Project for Raipur
The newly inaugurated overbridge is expected to become a major urban link for the capital city. Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Arun Sao described it as a “lifeline” connecting multiple residential and commercial zones.
He noted that the structure will directly benefit nearly 25 major colonies, improving connectivity not only within Raipur but also for commuters traveling towards Bilaspur and Baloda Bazar routes.
Project Built Under Central Road Fund Scheme
Officials confirmed that the project was approved under the Central Road Fund (CRF) scheme of the Government of India.
Key specifications of the overbridge include:
- Length: Approximately 787 meters
- Width: Around 13 meters
- Total cost: ₹48.78 crore
The structure is expected to significantly improve traffic efficiency and reduce travel time for daily commuters, students, and business communities.
CM Emphasizes Infrastructure-Led Development
Speaking at the inauguration, CM Sai reiterated that the state government is accelerating development of roads, bridges, and urban infrastructure to improve public convenience.
He also appreciated the efforts of engineers, officials, and executing agencies for ensuring timely and quality completion of the project, calling quality construction a top government priority.
Public Welfare Through Governance Outreach Initiatives
Referring to the ongoing “Sushasan Tihar” initiative, the Chief Minister said the government is actively reaching out to citizens to gather feedback on schemes and resolve issues through on-ground engagement and grievance redressal camps.
He also mentioned that he personally conducts village-level interactions to ensure that government benefits are reaching the last mile effectively.
Development Push in Remote and Naxal-Affected Regions
CM Sai highlighted that areas previously affected by Naxalism, particularly in Bastar, are now witnessing rapid development.
He mentioned initiatives such as:
- Niyad Nellanar Scheme
- Niyad Nellanar 2.0
These programs are extending government services to remote villages, while health teams have conducted screenings for over 20 lakh people through door-to-door health surveys.
Improved Urban Mobility for Raipur Residents
The inauguration is expected to bring major relief to daily commuters and enhance Raipur’s transport network. The overbridge will facilitate smoother travel for residents of Kachna, Khamhardih, and surrounding localities, as well as those traveling for work, education, and trade.
Officials and public representatives present at the event hailed the project as a major step toward strengthening Raipur’s urban infrastructure and mobility system.
