Umrer: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has further strengthened its healthcare infrastructure with the inauguration of several new and upgraded facilities at Area Hospital, Umrer. The facilities were inaugurated today by Mr. Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & Human Resource), WCL, as part of the company’s continued efforts to provide better and more patient-centric healthcare services to employees, their families and communities in surrounding areas.
First PPP-Model X-Ray Facility Inaugurated at WCL
A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of a new X-Ray machine under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in association with Asha Hospital.
This marks the first PPP-model initiative in WCL and is aimed at strengthening diagnostic services and enabling patients to receive timely and quality treatment. The initiative is expected to improve access to essential diagnostic facilities at the hospital while supporting more efficient patient care.

New and Upgraded Hospital Facilities
Along with the X-Ray facility, several newly constructed and renovated facilities at Area Hospital, Umrer were also inaugurated.
The upgraded facilities include:
- Newly constructed Casualty Room
- Renovated Doctors’ Room
- Renovated Male Ward
- Renovated Nurses’ Room
- Renovated Female Ward
These upgrades are intended to improve the overall hospital environment and provide better facilities for patients as well as medical and nursing staff.
WCL Focuses on Quality Healthcare and Patient Care
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bikram Ghosh said that quality healthcare continues to remain an important priority for WCL. He highlighted the organization’s ongoing efforts to modernise medical facilities and improve patient care.
He described the PPP initiative as a significant step towards enhancing diagnostic services and said that WCL would continue to explore innovative models to further strengthen its healthcare infrastructure.
Mr. Bikram Ghosh also sought feedback and suggestions from employees and stakeholders for further improvement in healthcare services and employee welfare.
