Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on World Environment Day inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth ₹294 crore in Balrampur district, marking a significant push for infrastructure and regional development.
The event included the inauguration and foundation laying of 75 development projects, aimed at improving connectivity, public services, and rural development across the district.
“Water is Life”: CM Emphasizes Environmental Protection
Addressing a public gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath said that “Water is life, and life is possible only with water”, stressing the importance of environmental conservation on World Environment Day.
He highlighted that Balrampur, once considered a backward district nine years ago, is now rapidly transforming into a developing and progressive district.
Strong Attack on Crime and Mafia Rule
The Chief Minister stated that under the current government:
- Law and order has improved significantly
- “Mafia elements have been eliminated”
- Women feel safer in the state
- Governance follows the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”
He said Uttar Pradesh is now moving towards a fear-free and development-oriented environment.
Focus on Infrastructure, Welfare and Public Services
CM Yogi highlighted major improvements in:
- Road infrastructure and bridges
- Irrigation facilities
- Free ration distribution for the poor
- Education and healthcare services
- Rural connectivity and development projects
He said these initiatives are continuously improving the standard of living of citizens under the double-engine government model.
Plantation Drive and Environmental Activities
On World Environment Day, the Chief Minister planted saplings of Peepal, Banyan, and Pakad trees, calling them a symbol of ecological balance.
He also inspected multiple departmental stalls showcasing government schemes and initiatives, including:
- Health and TB control programs
- Tharu Development Project
- Panchayati Raj and Rural Livelihood Mission
- Women welfare schemes under Mission Shakti
- Agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and sugarcane departments
- PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
- Skill development and employment programs
- Police and transport safety initiatives
Wildlife Conservation and Forest Development Highlighted
Forest department officials informed the Chief Minister about major ecological achievements in the region:
- Presence of tigers and vulture species in Sohelwa Wildlife Division
- Identification of four tigers including cubs in 2026 census
- Conservation of five vulture species out of eight found in India
- Plantation of 2 crore saplings across 31.65 sq km since 2017
Modern conservation tools like thermal drones, tranquilizing guns, and metal detectors are also being used for wildlife protection.
Growth Since 2017: “New Balrampur Emerging”
Officials showcased that Balrampur has undergone major transformation since 2017, including:
- Expansion of road and bridge networks
- Improved healthcare and education infrastructure
- Increased industrial and rural development
- Elimination of outdated systems like lantern-based lighting in villages
A short film highlighting the district’s progress and development journey was also presented.

State leaders and representatives present at the event praised the development pace in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting:
- Improved law and order situation
- Rapid infrastructure expansion
- Enhanced safety for women
- Growth in rural and urban connectivity
They also appealed for continued support for ongoing development initiatives.
