Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Chiluatal Tourism Development Project in Gorakhpur and announced plans to develop the site on the lines of Ramgarh Tal as a major eco-tourism and water sports destination. The project, developed at a cost of over ₹20 crore, aims to transform the natural lake into a modern tourism hub while preserving its ecological balance.

During the inauguration ceremony, CM Yogi Adityanath expressed optimism about the future of Chiluatal and highlighted its natural potential.

The Chief Minister said that Chiluatal has strong potential for water sports and recreational tourism, similar to Ramgarh Tal, which has already hosted national-level sporting events.

Referring to past developments, the Chief Minister said that Ramgarh Tal has become a landmark tourism destination.
- Hosted National Junior Rowing Championship
- Participants from 22 states and over 200 athletes
- Widely appreciated for its improved infrastructure and cleanliness
He added that earlier untreated drainage water used to enter Ramgarh Tal, but the government has now ensured proper treatment systems before discharge.
Focus on Clean, Smart and Sustainable Gorakhpur
CM Yogi emphasized a broader vision for urban transformation in Gorakhpur.

The Chief Minister announced a large-scale civic campaign aligned with national environmental and yoga initiatives.

- Plantation drive under “One Tree in Mother’s Name” initiative
- Cleanliness drives on June 4 across municipal divisions
- Yoga camps on June 21 at Ramgarh Tal and Chiluatal

Infrastructure and Development Updates in Gorakhpur
CM Yogi also highlighted several ongoing development projects in the city:
- Revival of the long-closed fertilizer plant after 31 years
- Presence of SSB, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Sainik School in the region
- Approval of funds for a new Kendriya Vidyalaya building
- Development of additional tourism and civic infrastructure around Chiluatal
He stated that Gorakhpur is now witnessing balanced development across all sectors.
