Recently, an IAS officer took to X and shared a thought-provoking video on an important issue. Officer Awanish Sharan (2009 batch IAS) shared a video where a railway passenger conversed with a sanitation worker on a platform, who (the sanitation worker) could be seen diligently scrubbing a pillar stained with paan and gutka spit.

The woman, a cleaning employee, expressed disgust and frustration while cleaning up after those unhygienic and careless passengers who violated public decency and spat gutka over public property. She mentioned how such hooligans keep portraying their shamelessness and violate the cleanliness of the station, paying no heed to her requests.

Watch the video captioned “Please convey Aunty’s message to the ‘right people'” here:

Videos like this portray how people generally lack basic civic sense and treat sanitation workers with disdain, violating their dignity and compromising public hygiene.
