Railway stations have been undergoing a transformative journey of modernization and aesthetic rejuvenation of late. With the vision of enhancing passenger experience and aligning with global standards, several initiatives have been undertaken to give these vital hubs a fresh, contemporary look.

Through schemes like the “Station Redevelopment Program” and the “Adarsh Station Scheme,” efforts have been directed towards upgrading infrastructure, improving amenities, and enhancing passenger facilities at railway stations across the country. This includes modernizing waiting areas, installing digital signage, revamping platforms, and integrating eco-friendly features.

2014 batch IRTS officer Vijay Kumar shared a video of one such station – Izzatnagar railway station – situated in the Bareilly district, UP. Mr Kumar wrote on ‘X’, “Renovated, augmented, modernised Izzatnagar Railway Station of North Eastern Railway. Some work is still underway🚂 It is one of the best Railway Station over Indian Railways. IR is committed to give the best services to people.”

In this video, one can see the new look of the railway station. The infrastructure seems like that of an airport, while all modern facilities, from AC lounge to big parking and Rail Cafe to lift, are there.

The government’s focus on cleanliness and hygiene has led to initiatives like the “Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,” aiming to ensure that railway stations maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

These efforts not only elevate the aesthetic appeal of railway stations but also contribute to a more efficient and pleasant travel experience for millions of passengers traversing the length and breadth of India.

With modernized railway stations, the government aims to redefine India’s railway infrastructure, reflecting the nation’s aspirations for progress and prosperity.
