During his recent visit to Srinagar, Secretary of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manoj Joshi explored key areas where the Smart City Mission has left a visible impact. The picturesque Dal Lake, a jewel in Srinagar’s crown, has undergone various enhancements to both its aesthetic appeal and functionality. The Jhelum Riverfront development, another focus of the Smart City initiative, reflects the city’s dedication to creating sustainable and accessible waterfronts.
One of the significant aspects of the Smart City Mission in Srinagar is the comprehensive area development and pedestrianization projects. Lal Chowk and Polo View Market, bustling centers of commerce and culture, have seen thoughtful interventions to improve the overall urban experience. These initiatives not only contribute to the aesthetics of these areas but also prioritize the safety and convenience of pedestrians.
The old city of Srinagar, with its historical significance and architectural charm, has also been touched by the Smart City transformation. Various locations in the old city have witnessed improvements that strike a balance between modernization and preservation of heritage.
Mr Joshi took to Twitter to share his enriching experience of his Srinagar visit. His tweet highlighted the remarkable strides made under the Smart City Mission, showcasing the city’s commitment to urban development and the preservation of its cultural heritage.
