Speaking to the media, Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP), Y.B. Khurania, an IPS officer of 1990 batch, expressed pride in this unprecedented move. “For the first time, the Odisha Police team went to 10 uninhabited islands on the Odisha coast and unfurled the Tricolour on the eve of Republic Day celebrations,” Khurania stated.
The survey for the mission was completed, with teams of Odisha Police visiting the ten identified islands across three coastal districts.
Khurania further noted that this move aligns with the Prime Minister’s instructions, aiming to strengthen the national identity and honor the significance of Republic Day on even the most remote parts of the Indian coastline.
As Republic Day 2025 unfolds, the flag-hoisting at these remote islands serves as a powerful symbol of national pride and a collective commitment to strengthening India’s coastal security.
