The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly marked its silver jubilee with grand celebrations, reflecting on 25 years of statehood. Governor Mr. Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren described the event as historic, emphasizing the sacrifices of tribal and indigenous communities that shaped the state. The Chief Minister highlighted that the journey of Jharkhand has been a blend of struggle, resilience, and progress across social, economic, and educational fronts.
Honoring the Pioneers of Jharkhand Movement
Mr. Soren paid tribute to the late Dishom Guru Mr. Shibu Soren, the pioneer of the Jharkhand movement. He called Mr. Soren a symbol of Jharkhand’s spirit, struggle, and self-respect, whose leadership transformed the movement into a mass movement, ultimately leading to state formation. The Chief Minister noted that Mr. Soren’s ideals continue to inspire governance and public service in the state.
Recognizing Excellence in Public Service and Legislature
During the program, Mr. Hemant Soren congratulated Mr. Raj Sinha for being selected as the Outstanding MLA, a symbol of discipline, integrity, and the dignity of public representation. Governor Mr. Gangwar, the Chief Minister, and Assembly Speaker Mr. Rabindranath Mahto honored Assembly employees, police personnel, and soldiers martyred in border and Naxal operations with mementos, certificates, and honorarium.
Literature, Sports, and Cultural Achievements Celebrated
The celebrations also included the release of biographies of Assembly members, the book “Sadan Samvad,” and the 99th and 100th issues of the Assembly’s magazine “Udaan.” Athletes, students, literary figures, and former MLAs were felicitated, showcasing the state’s commitment to cultural, academic, and sporting excellence.
Legislative Assembly: A Bridge Between People and Governance
Governor Mr. Gangwar reflected on the pivotal role of the Assembly in policy-making, lawmaking, and ensuring that government benefits reach every citizen. He recalled former Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s visionary contribution to the state’s formation and emphasized the responsibility of legislators to uphold public trust and engage in meaningful debate for the state’s development in education, health, agriculture, industry, infrastructure, and social welfare.

Both the Governor and the Chief Minister highlighted that public service is an opportunity to deliver justice, transparency, and responsive governance. Mr. Gangwar urged legislators to maintain the dignity of the Assembly while ensuring that the aspirations and rights of the people remain central to policy and governance decisions.
