Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the All Gujarat Caterers Association (AGCA) Expo-2025 in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, marking the start of a two-day event that brings together the state’s vibrant catering and culinary sector.

The expo, held on September 9–10, features over 150 stalls and nearly 2,500 exhibitors, showcasing cuisines and culinary arts from across India and abroad. Organizers expect more than 5,000 visitors, including industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and food enthusiasts, to attend the event.

CM Patel’s Call for Healthier Food Practices

During his visit to the expo stalls, CM Patel urged caterers to support the state government’s “Obesity-Free Gujarat” campaign by adopting healthier cooking practices and reducing oil usage. He emphasized the importance of promoting nutrition and wellness through food, especially in a state known for its rich culinary traditions.

Knowledge Exchange and Business Platform

In addition to food displays, the expo includes expert-led workshops and seminars on modern catering practices, food hygiene, business innovation, and customer trends. These sessions aim to equip caterers and entrepreneurs with updated knowledge and strengthen Gujarat’s position as a hub for large-scale catering services.

Industry Leaders’ Remarks

AGCA President Bhavanisingh Purohit expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s presence, stating it had “significantly boosted the enthusiasm of participants.” Manoj Purohit, President of the Ahmedabad chapter of AGCA, along with members from across Gujarat, were also present, reflecting the association’s strong statewide representation.

Broader Context

The event comes at a time when Gujarat’s catering and hospitality industry is expanding rapidly, fueled by weddings, festivals, and corporate events. Industry experts note that platforms like AGCA Expo are crucial for showcasing innovation, building networks, and driving professional standards in the food service sector.

Legislative Session Tribute

Separately, on Monday, CM Patel began the seventh session of the 15th Gujarat Legislative Assembly with condolence references, paying tribute to several late leaders including former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, former Minister Hemaben Suryakant Acharya, and others. Patel acknowledged Rupani’s contributions to Gujarat’s development during his tenure, highlighting his role in infrastructure, health, and education initiatives.
