New Delhi: Delhi’s Department of Information Technology has proposed an indicative requirement of 41–62 acres for four technology and digital infrastructure initiatives under the Master Plan for Delhi-2047 (MPD-2047).
The proposals are aimed at strengthening the capital’s ecosystem for semiconductor and electronics development, drone technologies, digital innovation, artificial intelligence and digital governance.
Four Technology Projects Proposed Under MPD-2047
The four proposed initiatives are:
- Semiconductor and Electronics Ecosystem: 25–30 acres
- Drone Innovation and Testing Ecosystem: 10–20 acres
- DISHA Innovation Hub: 5–10 acres
- State Data Centre and AI Infrastructure: 1–2 acres

The land requirement is indicative, and the MPD-2047 does not identify specific locations for these projects.
Semiconductor Ecosystem Gets Largest Land Requirement
The Semiconductor and Electronics Ecosystem, proposed under the Delhi Semiconductor Policy 2026-27, accounts for the largest indicative land requirement of 25–30 acres.
The proposed Drone Ecosystem and Innovation Initiative, linked to the proposed Delhi Drone Policy 2026-27, would require another 10–20 acres for innovation and testing infrastructure.
The remaining proposals include the Digital Innovation & Smart Hub for Advancement (DISHA) and an AI-enabled State Data Centre and Government Cloud Infrastructure.
Technology and Innovation Zone Proposed
MPD-2047 also proposes an integrated Technology & Innovation Zone covering areas such as:
- Artificial intelligence
- Semiconductors and electronics
- Drone technologies
- Start-ups
- Digital governance
- Advanced computing
- Research and innovation
However, the plan does not identify a specific location for the proposed zone and calls for suitable land parcels to be identified and allocated.
Focus on Digital and Knowledge Economy
The technology proposals form part of MPD-2047’s broader economic strategy, which places emphasis on the knowledge and cyber economy, high-tech industries, electronics, robotics, research and development and innovation.
The plan also envisages greater digital and telecommunications infrastructure to support emerging technology-based economic activities.
Implementation Details Yet to Be Finalised
While MPD-2047 provides an indicative framework for the proposed technology infrastructure, several implementation details are yet to be determined.
These include:
- Locations of the required 41–62 acres
- Whether the projects will be developed together or at separate locations
- Land-allotment timelines
- Project costs
- Implementation schedules
- Agencies responsible for developing and operating the facilities
The proposed framework therefore sets out the land and infrastructure requirements, while specific project design and implementation details are to be worked out.
