‘Ironman’ IPS Officer Krishna Prakash Makes World Record, Swam Against the Waves from Gateway of India to Elephant Caves

After winning Ironman in 2017 and Ultraman in 2018, IPS officer Krishna Prakash became the first one in the world to swim from Gateway of India to Elephant Caves and that too against the waves

Krishna Prakash, an IPS officer of 1998 batch, has made a Guinness World Record by becoming the first person in the world to swim from Gateway of India to Elephant Caves, and that too against the wave. This phenomenon record made by the senior officer was  to inspire the youth to “try their best to bag an Olympic medal in 10K open swimming, as well as raise Drowning Prevention Awareness.”

The officer who had already achieved the title of ‘Ironman’ and ‘Ultraman’, wrote in a tweet, “Today I completed the daunting task of swimming from Gateway of India to Elephanta caves and became the first person in the world to do so. Contrary to the popular swimming route of Elephanta caves to Gateway of India whereas swimmers ride the waves of the the high tides towards gateway I decided to do it from the reverse side against the waves. I could swim a distance of 16.20 kms in 5 hrs 26 minutes. This expedition is dedicated to’ Drowning Prevention Awareness’. Trust my adventure swimming will inspire young Indians to try their best to bag olympic medal in 10k open water swimming.”

The officer received an amazing response to his achievement on twitter as the video posted by the officer was seen by more than 1.3 million people and liked by over 16k people. Also various congratulatory messages were received through comments.

The event was organized by the National Institute of Swimming and recognized by the World Open Water Swimming Association is certified by the Swimming Association of Maharashtra, which is affiliated with the Maharashtra Olympic Association.
