BEL Hands Over Advanced Medical Equipment to NIMHANS Bengaluru to Strengthen Mental Healthcare

The CSR initiative includes Deep TMS stimulators, TMS systems and EEG equipment to enhance diagnosis, treatment and research in psychiatry and paediatric neurology.

Bengaluru: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bengaluru Complex, has handed over advanced medical equipment to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The equipment is aimed at strengthening the institute’s healthcare capabilities in psychiatry and paediatric neurology.

The medical equipment was handed over by Rajnish Sharma, Director, Bengaluru Complex, BEL, to Dr. Y. C. Janardhan Reddy, Director In-charge, NIMHANS. T. N. Singh, General Manager (Human Resources), Sanjay Aggarwal, General Manager (Corporate Services), and other BEL officials were present during the handover ceremony.

The initiative is expected to improve diagnostic capabilities, expand access to advanced treatment options and support research in mental health and neuroscience.

BEL Provides Advanced Medical Equipment to NIMHANS

As part of its CSR efforts, BEL has provided a range of specialised medical equipment to NIMHANS to enhance its clinical facilities and support patient care.

The equipment handed over includes:

  • Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Stimulator
  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and repetitive TMS (rTMS) systems
  • Portable Video Electroencephalography (EEG) System
  • EEG Network Review System
  • Patient Monitors
  • Laboratory Workstation

These facilities are intended to strengthen the institute’s medical infrastructure and support its specialised services in psychiatry and paediatric neurology.

Equipment to Strengthen Psychiatry and Paediatric Neurology Services

The newly provided equipment is expected to enhance the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of the Departments of Psychiatry and Paediatric Neurology at NIMHANS.

The advanced systems are expected to facilitate faster and more accurate diagnosis of neurological disorders. They will also support access to advanced, non-invasive treatment options, including transcranial magnetic stimulation, for patients who do not respond adequately to medication.

The equipment is expected to contribute to improved clinical assessment and patient management while helping medical professionals deliver specialised care.

Advanced Equipment to Support Mental Health Research

In addition to strengthening patient care, the equipment is expected to support research and clinical advancements in mental health and neuroscience.Systems such as video EEG and EEG network review facilities can assist in neurological assessment and the evaluation of brain activity. The additional monitoring and laboratory equipment will further support clinical activities at the institute.

The initiative highlights the importance of modern medical technology in improving healthcare services and advancing specialised neurological and psychiatric care.

BEL Reinforces Commitment to Healthcare Through CSR

BEL’s medical equipment donation reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving access to advanced medical care.

Through its CSR initiatives, BEL supports projects aimed at community welfare and social development. Its collaboration with NIMHANS is intended to contribute to better healthcare facilities and the overall well-being of patients requiring specialised mental health and neurological services.
