The ongoing crisis due to Covid-19 outbreak is one of worst phase witnessed by most of us. While we are dealing with the second wave, the fear of third wave is also gripping us. Schools are closed, exams have been postponed and life by and large is still unsettled. There are lots of uncertainties ahead.

This situation is also very difficult for the UPSC aspirants who are waiting for that one good opportunity. Like last year, the exams for Civil Services has been postponed again. It might happen in October. However, this phase of waiting can be restless for many students who are preparing for the exam from last many years.

Ms. Sharma is currently posted as CSP in Raipur

At this time of uncertainty and suspense, an IPS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre has come up with some inspiring words for the aspirants. Ms. Ankita Sharma, who is posted as the City Superintendent of Police, Azad Chowk in Raipur has shared a heartfelt note for all the aspirants and highlighted the ups down of her journey.

During a conversation with Indian Masterminds, the first female IPS of Chhattisgarh talked about her letter and also shared some of her experiences in the field.

Nothing is permanent

Ms. Sharma got selected for the UPSC in 2018 and that was her third attempt. She has seen her fair share of failures but didn’t lose hope. That is why she was able to achieve her dream.

Now, she believes that everyone who has faith on him or herself could achieve what they want.

“Never get disappointed of failures. You can never find a single person who has ever succeeded without downfall. Always remember that ‘Rise’ and ‘Fall’ is just a phase in the journey of life. It is not permanent”, she wrote in her letter.

The officer also encouraged the students to read biographies and autobiographies of famous achievers. She believes that failures are a part and parcel of life and one should not be discouraged by them.

Have Faith in Your Self

When Indian Masterminds asked Ms Sharma what prompted her to write a note for the aspirants, she replied, “Everybody has their own piece of success and failure. Failure is just a part of our journey but we don’t realise this at the real time. When I look into retrospect, I feel that at that time I didn’t know that how my hard work will culminate. That feeling cannot be explained and it keeps you in dilemma. But in the end what matters is how much faith you have on your self and on your God, if you believe in it. Many aspirants are currently going through same phase and I thought that sharing my journey will benefit them”.

She added that even if a few students take heart from her note, she would be more than happy.

Three awards in one year

Ms. Sharma has got her first independent posting as the CSP. However, in just few months of her service she has achieved many feats. This year she was honoured with `Nari Shakti Samman’ and two other awards for getting best results on field. She was appreciated by the DGP of Chhattisgarh for taking on to the drugs nexus. Talking about it she said, “Ajay Kumar Yadav sir (SP) showed immense faith on me and gave me an assignment against drugs mafia. I am really glad that I and my team could pull off the mission.”

After locating the drug dealers in Raipur, Ms. Sharma and her team found the link of the nexus that was operating from Mumbai and sending drugs in the district. The team busted the whole gang and also caught one Nigerian national. Besides that, she also nabbed a most wanted criminal who was using kids for his illegal works.

Ms Sharma hopes to keep up the good work and establish the rule of law & order in the state.
