Providing a Local Platform to Hidden Haryanvi Talents

Indian Masterminds Stories

The stage is set for showcasing unique and hidden talents of Haryana. The state is all set to organise its own reality show, ‘Haryana’s Got Talent’, in the format of the popular reality TV show, ‘India’s Got Talent’, albeit with some local flavours added to it.

This talent hunt will give a chance to the people of the state to showcase their talents on a big platform, as not everyone gets a chance to join the TV show, many are not even aware of it, and some don’t have the resources to audition for it. Hence, with the Haryana government’s initiative, people can now take part in a talent hunt show closer to home.

Speaking to Indian Masterminds, 2007 batch IPS officer of Haryana cadre, Mr. Pankaj Nain, said that this talent hunt is a part of the Haryana Uday initiative under the Chief Minister’s Outreach Programme. He is presently DIG, Anti-Corruption Bureau and Special Officer (Community Police and Outreach) in the Chief Minister’s Office, Haryana.

SHOW FORMAT

The format of this show has already been finalized. There is no discrimination of age or gender. Anyone with a unique talent will be welcomed on the show. The state government is going to hire an agency which will look after all the work, from district level auditions to the finale. The audition is likely to start from 1 November.

Mr. Pankaj Nain (DIG, Anti-Corruption Bureau and Special Officer (Community Police and Outreach)

“The auditions will be conducted in each district for around one and a half month. Three to four entries will be selected from each district. Then all the selected participants will gather for the finale,” Mr. Nain said.

The schedule and venue for the grand finale are yet to be decided. The officials are also planning for live streaming of this show and talks with OTT platforms are going on regarding this.

TALENT PUSH

Explaining the rationale behind holding a talent hunt show when so many already exist, Mr. Nain said, “Every house and village has hidden talents. As part of the government, it is our duty to identify and encourage those talents by providing platforms to them. It not only motivates the participants but also the family and society as a whole. The progress of the country lies hidden in promotion of such talents.”

He also said that the winner of this talent show will get a cash reward of up to 15 lakhs and will be honoured with ‘Haryana Gaurav’.

After its completion, the Haryana government plans to enter the startup world. Next year, they will organize a ‘Shark Tank’ kind of show to boost ideas of young minds.

“This programme is in the pipeline. We will start working on it after the talent hunt programme comes to an end. The objective is to provide government’s help in funding and building infrastructure for new age ideas. This will motivate youngsters to become entrepreneurs,” Mr. Nain said.
