Delhi Police has stepped into the world of podcast with an all-new series of unheard stories of men in khaki, related to crimes and investigations with a humanitarian touch. The objective behind the podcast, titled Kissa Khaki Ka, is to forge a new relationship between the police and the civilians. The podcast goes on air every Sunday, and till now three episodes have been released.

The podcast is narrated by well-known media educator Vartika Nanda who has been working on prison reforms through her radio program initiatives.

Indian Masterminds brings to you a detailed story of the three heart-touching and insightful podcasts released by the Delhi Police till date.

CONSTANT ENGAGEMENT

“The relationship between police and citizens is one of the constant engagements. When in need, people look up to us for support, help, lending our ears to their problems, stories. Likewise, we look up to them for suggestions and guidance. Our podcast Kissa Khaki ka takes our relationships to the next level where we share stories with people with an open heart,” Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had told media.

He further shared that this will help them grow mutual trust and bonding with the citizens, enabling better policing. He says that the police of the capital are now media savvy and, therefore, they are ready to rise to meet the new age communication needs.

THAN SINGH KI PATHSHALA

The first podcast which was released by the Delhi Police was titled Than Singh Ki Pathshala. It discussed at length a school run by police constable Than Singh for slum children near Lal Qila.

Constable Than Singh started his pathshala back in 2016 with only four children. However, at least 60 children come to this Pathshala now to get education from the constable. Not only this, Than Singh withdraws money from his salary and fulfils the dreams of these small kids.

During the Covid-19 outbreak, many children went back to their hometown but Than Singh’s pathshala is still running and kids who stay in Delhi visit this pathshala regularly. He also makes sure that kids who study in his pathsala stay away from crime.

DILLI KE PEHREDAAR

The second episode titled ‘Dilli ke Pehredaar’ focused the role of Delhi Police in making Republic Day celebration successful every year. The podcast acquainted the people with the honourable work done by the policemen of the capital.

The podcast stated that during the pandemic, 17,000 policemen of Delhi got infected with Covid 19, while 79 policemen succumbed to death while protecting the citizens. Despite this, Delhi Police’s morale was high and they helped people far exceeding their capabilities.

KATRA-KATRA DILLI KE NAAM

The third podcast which got aired by the Delhi Police discussed at length about the passion of Head Constable Shankar Lal Rath who saved the lives of people by donating blood, platelets and plasma.

The podcast stated that the constable has written ‘mera junoon hai kabhi kissi ko khoon ki kami na ho’ on his Instagram account.

While working at the police training school, Wazirabad, someone called him from Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital stating the need of platelets for his 11-year-old kid. The constable went to the hospital soon after his work and donated platelets and saved the life of the kid.

He has also arranged blood and platelets to a kid who was fighting cancer. Not only this, Constable Rath has also donated plasma for around 7 times after he recovered from Covid.

With the help of his colleagues, Constable Rath has made a blood donation group and till now they have helped around 800 times by donating blood to the people in need.

With ‘Delhi Police Week’ scheduled for February, the new podcast initiative promises to bring the policemen and the citizens closer and make the bond stronger.
