We get to hear stories of families which can boast of many IAS and IPS officers all the time, like there is this family that has 12 IAS officers, a father whose all four children cleared UPSC, and so on. The latest such story doing the rounds is of an amazing coincidence in Rajasthan, and the common denominator here is IAS!
IAS officer Qummer-Ul-Zaman Choudhary got posted as collector to the same district where his father-in-law was once posted as collector – Dausa. And he has been allotted the same government quarter that was once allotted to his father-in-law!
Indian Masterminds dug deep into this interesting coincidence and came up with some surprising information.
ABOUT QUMMER-UL-ZAMAN CHOUDHARY
IAS officer Qummer ul Zaman Choudhary is originally from Jammu and Kashmir. He is an IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre. Earlier, he was posted as Commissioner in Jodhpur Development Authority. He has also been the Commissioner of Udaipur Municipal Corporation. He is married to Farah Hussain, an IRS officer who is the daughter of Retired IAS officer Ashfaq Hussain.
Mr. Choudhary cracked UPSC CSE 2014 with AIR 751. Before cracking the most prestigious and difficult exam, he had cracked the Kashmir Administrative services (KAS) as well.
RECENT TRANSFER TO DAUSA
The government of Rajasthan had recently transferred 52 IAS officers of the state while performing a major administrative surgery in the state. In this reshuffle, Qummer-ul-Zaman Choudhary got posted as the new DM of the Dausa district. This is his first posting as a Collector in any state.
SAME POSTING AS FATHER-IN-LAW
As Mr. Choudhary took over as the new collector of Dausa, one surprising thing that came to light was that six years ago, his father-in-law, too, used to be the collector there.
When his father-in-law, retired IAS officer Ashfaq Hussain, was a collector in Dausa, his daughter Farha Hussain had passed the UPSC exam and become an IRS officer. After becoming an IRS officer, Farha Hussain married Qummer-ul-Zaman Choudhary, a 2014-batch IAS officer. And, today, the son-in-law is collector in the same district where the father-in-law was once collector!
SAME RESIDENCE
When retired IAS officer Ashfaq Hussain was the collector of Dausa district, he resided with his family in the official government quarter that was allotted to him. Six years later, his son-in-law Qummer Choudhary has been allotted the same government quarter as his official residence!
Call it coincidences or strange twist of fate, but an IAS officer son-in-law following in the footsteps of the retired IAS officer father-in-law is making news these days, and an interesting one at that!
