All About Delhi’s First Dog Park!

The Covid19 pandemic has been hard on everyone, especially our pet dogs. With a halt in their daily walks and outdoor playtime, our four-legged friends were confined to small spaces, inadequate for them.

Now that public spaces are opening for everyone and the impact of the virus is gradually decreasing, the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Karol Bagh Zone, IAS officer Vishakha Yadav has come up with an interesting idea for pets and pet parents.

DOG PARK BY NDMC

Under her care, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) recently unveiled the national capital’s first-ever dog park. The one-of-a-kind park will allow pet dogs to play, socialize and even get pampered.

The park has been opened in the Old Rajendar Nagar area and is a safe space where people can take their pets for a stretch and a stroll. The dog park comprises swings, and green patches for canines and their pet parents. The park will not only help the dogs but also their parents to stay fit.

“With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, the life of pet dogs and pet parents got confined to indoors and within limited space, making them fall prey to lifestyle diseases. Delhi’s first dog park will help the pets to stay fit, rejuvenate and recreate in safe open spaces like parks,” NDMC Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh said.

SAFETY MEASURES FOR DOGS

According to ADC Karol Bagh, Ms. Vishakha Yadav, a seamless registration counter has also been installed in the dog park, in order to ensure adequate safety measures for the pets and the pet parents. Along with that, free check-ups and free anti-rabies vaccination camps will also be organized for the pets from time to time.

“Beautifully depicted dog caricatures and paintings are drawn throughout the park, giving it a lively atmosphere. We are also ensuring that different kinds of swings, including the ones made of waste, are the highlight of the park, which will enthrall pet lovers and their babies,” she said.

Delhi’s first dog park will not only make sure that the little furballs of the city have a good time socializing with their friends in the park but also take care of their owner’s health. The Dog Park has special trails for pet parents to walk in, while their fur babies play and have the time of their lives.

ANOTHER ONE COMING SOON

This is not the first time that the country has seen a special dog park. Such parks exist in many areas of Bangalore and Hyderabad. After witnessing the success of Delhi’s first dog park, now the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has also made up its mind to inaugurate a dog park in the area.

The pet park will be developed in a one-acre area near Jangpura in South Delhi. The project is likely to begin soon.
