1380 Police Personnel facilitated with medals on Independence Day

On the occasion of Independence Day this year, 1380 Police Personnel have been facilitated with Gallantry medals & Service medals. The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the names of recipients for President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG), President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPMDS) , Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMDS) on Saturday.
Total number of 628 personnel received the Gallantry Award. While 1 PPMG each has been awarded to the J&K Police and the CRPF. 398 personnel have been honoured for their service in Jammu & Kashmir region.

Also 256 from the J&K police including Police Sub- Inspector Amardeep , CRPF head constable who lost his life in the Phulwama attack last year along side 151 other CRPF’s , 20 officers from ITBP, 67, 25 and 20 from Odisha , Maharashtra and Chattisgarh have been honoured this year. 88 police personnels from across the country has also been awarded with President Police medal.

UP : COMMISSIONER OF NOIDA AMONG FOUR AWARDED WITH PRESIDENT POLICE MEDAL

Police Commissioner of Noida,IPS Alok Kumar has been honoured with the President Police Medal this year. Mr. Singh is among the four officials from Uttar Pradesh to get selected for this award for his Distinguished Service this year.

A 1995 batch IPS Mr. Singh was promoted to the rank of additional director general (ADG) in 2020. During his posting in Sonbhadra, he encountered three Naxals and also successfully tackled many criminal cases.
The three other winners from the state of Uttar Pradesh are- CB CID Lucknow’s SP Geeta Singh, Sub – inspector Wajid Ali Khan of Deoria district and Jagat Narayan Mishra, who was the Platoon commander of the 11th battalion of PAC.

TWO IPS IN MUMBAI AWARDED

Two IPS officers and 23 other police officials from the state of Maharashtra have been also awarded with President medal. Manjunath Shinge and Hari Balaji are the two IPS officers who have been honoured with the medal. Manjunath Shinge is currently posted as the DCP(Zone VIII) and Hari Balaji as the Superintendent of police of Amravati. Four Fire Brigade Personal from Mumbai too recieved the medal of gallantry this year.

24 OFFICERS IN TAMIL NADU HONOURED

24 officers from Tamil Nadu Police has been honoured with the President’s medal this year on the occassion of Independence Day,2021. Vinit Dev Wankhede and D.Jayavel are among the list of officers from Tamil Nadu, who have been awarded for their distinguished service.Vinit Dev Wankhede has been posted as Additional Director General of police of state Crime Records Bureau and D.Jayavel iscurrently posted as Commandant of Tamil Nadu special Police X Battalion.

20 other officials including M.Manohar, V. Balasubramanian, M.Thillai have received the President medal for their distinguished service.
