AAI Plans ₹42.52 Crore Tender to Upgrade Saharsa Airport, Boost Air Connectivity in Bihar

Patna: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a ₹42.52 crore tender for the development and upgradation of Saharsa Airport in Bihar, in a move aimed at strengthening air connectivity across the Kosi region.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary described the initiative as a “major achievement for the entire Kosi region” and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the project. He said the development would improve connectivity for Saharsa and neighbouring areas and facilitate faster air connectivity across the region.

₹42.52 Crore Tender for Saharsa Airport Development

The AAI tender is part of efforts to develop and upgrade infrastructure at Saharsa Airport.

The project is expected to:

  • Improve air connectivity in Bihar’s Kosi region.
  • Strengthen connectivity between Saharsa and neighbouring areas.
  • Improve accessibility for residents.
  • Support trade and tourism in the region.
  • Create a new and faster transportation link for the area.

Chief Minister Choudhary termed the project a historic step towards providing air connectivity to Saharsa.

Bihar Government to Provide 12 Acres of Land

The Bihar government is contributing 12 acres of land valued at ₹147 crore for the airport project.

According to the Chief Minister, the transfer of land, along with the proposed airport infrastructure development, will help facilitate swift air connectivity across the Kosi region.

The development of Saharsa Airport is expected to provide an important transport link for the region and improve access for people travelling for business, education, healthcare and other purposes.

CM Samrat Choudhary Honours 168 Meritorious Students

Separately, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary honoured 168 meritorious students who secured top ranks in the 2026 Intermediate and Matriculation annual examinations.

The award ceremony was held at the ‘Nek Samvad’ auditorium of Lok Sevak Awas in Patna.

The meritorious students were presented with medals, certificates and cash awards in recognition of their academic achievements.

Cash Awards Announced for Examination Toppers

The award structure included different cash prizes based on students’ ranks:

  • First rank: ₹2 lakh
  • Second rank: ₹1.5 lakh
  • Third rank: ₹1 lakh
  • Intermediate fourth and fifth rank: ₹30,000 each
  • Matriculation fourth to tenth rank: ₹20,000 each
  • Laptop assistance: ₹51,000 for each of the 168 students

The laptop assistance is intended to support students in continuing their education and accessing digital learning resources.

CM Calls Students Symbol of Bihar’s Bright Future

Addressing the awardees, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the meritorious students represented Bihar’s bright future and would play an important role in the development of the state.

The recognition programme highlighted the government’s focus on encouraging academic excellence while the Saharsa Airport project reflects efforts to strengthen infrastructure and connectivity in the state.
