The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved two significant personnel decisions involving the Intelligence Bureau and NITI Aayog. The Centre has granted the Apex Pay Scale (Level-17) to senior IPS officer Rithwik Rudra, currently serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau, while also approving the appointment of retired senior officer P. Shankar as Private Secretary to NITI Aayog Member Dr. M. Srinivas on a contractual basis.
Rithwik Rudra Gets Apex Pay Scale
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the ACC has approved the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposal to grant the Apex Pay Scale (Level-17 in the Pay Matrix) to Rithwik Rudra, a 1993-batch IPS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre. Rudra is currently serving as the Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau, and the upgraded pay scale takes effect immediately.
The order follows a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and formal approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Retired Officer P. Shankar Appointed in NITI Aayog
In a separate order, the ACC approved the appointment of P. Shankar, a retired Senior Principal Private Secretary (Senior PPS) from the CSSS cadre, as Private Secretary to NITI Aayog Member Dr. M. Srinivas.
The appointment has been made on a contract basis by relaxing the existing guidelines. Shankar will serve at the Under Secretary level for a period of one year from the date he assumes charge. His tenure may end earlier if it becomes co-terminus with the Member’s tenure, if he ceases to function as the Private Secretary, or if further orders are issued.
