IPS officer Alok Sharma has been appointed as Additional Director General in the Special Protection Group (SPG) on Friday. The 1991 batch officer Uttar Pradesh cadre is currently the IG, SPG. His promotion within SPG was made possible by temporarily upgrading a post of IG in SPG to the level of ADG for remaining period of his deputation in SPG. His tenure in SPG will complete on 15th March this year.
