Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has taken serious note of the deaths of children in tribal areas of Balaghat and directed officials and public representatives to ascertain the reasons behind the incidents. He also ordered a review of healthcare and administrative arrangements in the affected areas.
During a review meeting at his residence, the Chief Minister directed local representatives to visit the affected areas, meet families and assess the ground situation. He stressed that the government must extend its support to affected families and that negligence at any level will not be tolerated.
CM Directs Ground-Level Review in Balaghat
CM Mohan Yadav asked local public representatives, MLAs and former ministers to visit their respective areas and interact directly with residents.
They have been asked to meet affected families, hear their concerns and convey the government’s condolences. The representatives will also assess healthcare and administrative arrangements and submit reports based on their findings.
The emphasis on ground-level assessment is intended to help the government understand the situation beyond official records and identify gaps in public services.

Probe Into Causes and Possible Negligence
The Chief Minister directed that detailed information be collected on the circumstances surrounding the children’s deaths.
If any lapse is found on the part of the Health Department, district administration or other agencies, the details must be brought to the government’s attention immediately.
Public representatives have been asked to prepare fact-based reports after visiting the affected areas. These reports will help determine whether corrective or disciplinary action is required and what measures are needed to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Focus on Sickle Cell Anaemia Awareness
The review meeting also discussed sickle cell anaemia, a major health concern in several tribal communities.
CM Mohan Yadav stressed the need to increase awareness about the disease through wider information and outreach campaigns. He also directed officials to ensure better treatment for patients with serious conditions.
Public representatives were asked to coordinate with Health Department officials and contribute to strengthening healthcare facilities in tribal areas.
Development Schemes Under Review
The Chief Minister also reviewed ongoing development works and the implementation of various government schemes in the tribal regions.
Public representatives were directed to monitor projects and schemes in their areas and report whether intended benefits are reaching residents.
The government also emphasised regular reviews of health and development programmes at the local level. The objective is to identify problems early and ensure their timely resolution.
Focus on Better Healthcare Delivery
The Balaghat review places healthcare access, accountability and monitoring at the centre of the government’s response. Alongside investigating the children’s deaths, the government is seeking ground-level feedback on health facilities and the delivery of welfare schemes in tribal areas.
The focus on sickle cell awareness, treatment facilities and closer monitoring of public services could help address some of the challenges faced by vulnerable communities in remote areas.
The review is also significant from a governance perspective, as the Chief Minister has called for direct interaction with affected families and fact-based reporting before deciding on further action.
