Mysuru: BEML Limited has unveiled India’s first indigenously designed and developed 60-ton electric dump truck, the BH60-EV, at its Mysuru Complex. The launch marks a significant step in the development of high-capacity electric mobility solutions for the mining and infrastructure sectors.
The next-generation electric dump truck was virtually launched by Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML Limited, in the presence of Functional Directors, senior officers and employees.
The BH60-EV combines high payload capability with an advanced electric powertrain and operator-focused engineering while delivering zero tailpipe emissions during operation.
BEML BH60-EV Designed for Mining and Infrastructure Applications
Designed and developed at BEML’s Mysuru Complex, the BH60-EV is built to meet the demanding requirements of heavy-duty mining and infrastructure operations.
The electric dump truck is aimed at supporting cleaner and more efficient mobility while maintaining the performance required for demanding industrial applications.
Shantanu Roy said the BH60-EV demonstrates BEML’s capability to develop high-capacity electric equipment tailored to the requirements of mining and infrastructure.
He highlighted the company’s focus on:

BH60-EV Features 1,000 kWh Lithium-Ion Battery
The BH60-EV is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) integrated with a rugged gearbox.
The vehicle uses a 1,000 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack, providing the power and torque required for heavy-duty applications.

54,500 Kg Payload Capacity and 36.4 Cubic Metre Body
The electric dump truck has a payload capacity of 54,500 kg with a rock body and a volumetric body capacity of 36.4 cubic metres.
Its high tractive effort and instant torque are designed to support efficient operation on gradients, making the vehicle suitable for demanding mining applications.
The electric platform also offers a high power-to-weight ratio, strong acceleration and gradeability.
BEML Targets Lower Operating Costs and CO₂ Emissions
According to BEML, the BH60-EV is designed to deliver 40–60% lower operating costs compared with conventional diesel-powered equipment, depending on operating conditions.
The company estimates that each vehicle could reduce annual CO₂ emissions by around 130 tonnes, subject to operating conditions.
The zero-tailpipe-emission electric platform is intended to reduce dependence on conventional fuel and support the transition towards cleaner heavy-duty equipment.
Integrated Charging Solution for Electric Mining Trucks
BEML is also offering a complete charging station solution compatible with site electrical infrastructure and scalable for fleet operations.
The integrated approach is designed to help customers deploy electric heavy-duty equipment along with a charging ecosystem suited to their operational requirements.
This charging infrastructure is expected to support the adoption of electric dump trucks in mining and other heavy-duty applications.
Safety and Operator Comfort Features
The BH60-EV has been developed with a focus on operator safety, comfort and reliability in demanding operating environments.
The spacious and ergonomically designed cabin incorporates several safety features, including:
- Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS)
- Emergency steering
- Sealed oil-cooled disc brakes
- Operator-focused cabin design
These features are intended to enhance safety, reliability and operator comfort during heavy-duty operations.
BH60-EV Expands BEML’s Electric Vehicle Portfolio
The launch of the BH60-EV builds on BEML’s growing electric vehicle portfolio.
The company had earlier launched its 35-ton Electric Dump Truck on April 10, 2026. With the new 60-ton electric dump truck, BEML is expanding its range of advanced electric and sustainable equipment.
