Patna: A major progress update has been reported in Bihar’s social security pension scheme, with more than 95.82 lakh beneficiaries completing their life certification process so far. According to the Social Welfare Department, nearly 80% of total pension holders in the state have successfully completed the verification, ensuring continued and uninterrupted pension payments.

The government has urged remaining beneficiaries to complete the process at the earliest through Panchayat-level camps or nearby Common Service Centres (CSCs), where the service is being provided free of cost.

Strong Push for Transparent and Timely Pension Delivery

The Social Welfare Department has emphasized that life certification is essential to ensure transparency and efficiency in welfare delivery systems. Officials stated that continuous monitoring is being carried out to strengthen coordination at the ground level and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive timely benefits without disruption.

The department is also running awareness campaigns to inform pension holders about the importance of completing the verification process within the deadline.

  • Patna: 4.43 lakh beneficiaries
  • Muzaffarpur: 4.24 lakh beneficiaries
  • Samastipur: 4.10 lakh beneficiaries
  • Darbhanga: 3.80 lakh beneficiaries

These districts account for a large share of the total certified beneficiaries in the state.

Low Completion in Some Districts Raises Concern

While most districts have shown strong participation, some regions have reported relatively low numbers of completed certifications.

Lowest-performing districts include:

  • Shekhpura: 62,000 beneficiaries
  • Sheohar: 67,000 beneficiaries
  • Arwal: 76,000 beneficiaries
  • Lakhisarai: 96,000 beneficiaries

Authorities have urged officials in these districts to accelerate awareness and registration efforts to ensure full coverage.

Government Appeal to Remaining Pensioners

The department has appealed to all remaining pension beneficiaries to complete their life certification without delay to avoid disruption in pension payments.

Beneficiaries can complete the process through:

  • Panchayat-level verification camps
  • Nearby Common Service Centres (CSCs)

Officials reiterated that the process is free of cost and easily accessible.

Monthly Pension Payment Schedule Announced

In a recent announcement, the government stated that social security pension amounts will now be credited to beneficiaries’ accounts on the 10th of every month.

Additionally, individuals aged 60 years and above who are not yet receiving pension benefits have been encouraged to apply for eligibility under the scheme.

Move Toward Efficient Welfare Delivery

With over 95 lakh beneficiaries already verified, Bihar’s social security pension system is moving toward improved transparency and efficiency. Authorities believe that timely life certification and streamlined payment schedules will strengthen welfare delivery and ensure financial security for eligible citizens across the state.
