Patna: Bihar has started operating five AC electric pink buses from Patna on multiple routes, offering women a more comfortable and environment-friendly public transport option.
The initiative has been launched under the Prime Minister E-Bus Service Scheme and comes as the state expands dedicated transport facilities for women. The low-floor, battery-operated buses will connect Patna with nearby towns and important destinations.
Five E-Pink Buses Begin Operations
According to the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC), two buses are operating on the Patna–Paliganj route, while two others are running on the Bailey Road–Kamroute route. One bus is operating between Patna and Bihta.
The low-floor design is aimed at making boarding and travel more convenient, while electric operation will support cleaner public transportation.

Fares on Key Routes
On the Patna–Paliganj route, fares include ₹121 for Paliganj, ₹108 for Dulhin Bazar, ₹84 for Bikram, ₹70 for Naubatpur and ₹40 for Danapur Railway Station.
On the return Paliganj–Patna route, fares range from ₹14 at Dulhin Bazar to ₹121 at Gandhi Maidan.
The Kargil Chowk–Bihta IIT service has fares ranging from ₹13 to ₹72. Passengers pay ₹13 for Multimodal Hub and Income Tax Chauraha, ₹18 for Secretariat and Zoo, ₹24 for Gola Road, ₹37 for Saguna Mor, ₹42 for Danapur Railway Station, ₹55 for Shivala Mor, ₹66 for Hungama Water Park and ₹72 for Bihta and Bihta IIT.
Bihar Plans 400 AC Electric Buses
The state is expected to receive 400 AC electric buses, of which 50 will operate as dedicated pink buses for women.
The AC facility is expected to improve passenger comfort during hot weather, while electric buses can help reduce vehicle emissions and support Bihar’s shift towards greener public transport.
Bihar already has 100 pink buses operating across different districts, according to officials. The addition of more electric pink buses could further expand dedicated and comfortable public transport options for women across the state.
