Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed officials to develop eco-tourism projects around the state’s water bodies under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, aiming to boost tourism, employment, and local economic growth.
The directive was issued during a high-level review meeting on eco-tourism held at the Chief Minister’s residence “Sankalp” in Patna on Sunday.
Eco-Tourism Expansion Through PPP Model
During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that eco-tourism should be systematically developed around all major reservoirs and water bodies across Bihar.
He instructed officials to:
- Develop eco-tourism projects under the PPP model
- Ensure better tourist facilities at water body locations
- Incorporate public feedback in planning and execution
The initiative is aimed at making tourism projects more sustainable and investment-friendly.
Tourism Packages to Be Prepared Soon
The Chief Minister directed the tourism department to prepare comprehensive tourism packages at the earliest to attract visitors.
These packages will focus on:
- Improving visitor experience
- Promoting tourism activities around water bodies
- Encouraging increased tourist footfall
Officials said the move is expected to generate employment opportunities and strengthen the local economy.
Focus on Employment and Local Economy
The Chief Minister highlighted that tourism development will play a key role in:
- Strengthening rural and local economies
- Creating new job opportunities
- Promoting sustainable development in the region
He reiterated that Bihar has strong potential in spiritual, cultural, and eco-tourism, which must be explored in a structured manner.
Plantation and Wetland Development Plan
The Chief Minister also directed the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department to undertake plantation drives around lakes, ponds, and wetlands.
Key instructions include:
- Plantation around all water bodies
- Systematic development of wetland areas
- Expansion of green cover across the state
- Strengthening water conservation efforts
These measures are expected to enhance environmental sustainability and ecological balance.
