Patna: The Mukhyamantri Vocational Course Guidance and Motivation Scheme of the Bihar government is helping talented students from backward and extremely backward classes achieve their career goals by providing free preparation for major competitive examinations.
Under the scheme, students are receiving free coaching for exams including CAT, MAT, CLAT, Judicial Services, NET, GATE, CSIR-JRF, PhD and MPhil. Currently, 1,025 students are benefiting from the programme across 10 centres in Bihar.
The initiative aims to reduce the impact of financial difficulties on students’ educational aspirations and help them access reputed management, law and higher education institutions.
Free Coaching for CAT, MAT, CLAT and Other Competitive Exams
The Bihar government’s scheme provides specialised coaching facilities for students preparing for various national-level competitive examinations.
Students are receiving free preparation for:
- CAT and MAT for admission to management institutes.
- CLAT and Judicial Services examinations for law careers.
- NET, GATE and CSIR-JRF for higher education and research opportunities.
- PhD and MPhil entrance preparation for advanced academic careers.
Along with coaching, students are also provided study materials and a one-time financial assistance of ₹3,000 to support their preparation.

1,025 Students Benefiting from 10 Coaching Centres Across Bihar
At present, the scheme is being implemented through 10 centres across the state, where more than one thousand students are receiving guidance for their career advancement.
The programme focuses on providing quality education support to students who may not be able to afford expensive private coaching facilities.
The government aims to create equal opportunities for students from backward and extremely backward communities through academic support and financial assistance.
Specialised Coaching Facilities Available at Leading Institutions
Under the scheme, different institutions have been assigned responsibility for preparing students for specific competitive examinations.
The coaching arrangements include:
- Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna – Preparation for CAT and MAT examinations.
- Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change, Patna – Coaching support for management entrance examinations.
- Chanakya National Law University, Patna – Preparation for CLAT and Judicial Services examinations.
- Five universities across Bihar – Free preparation facilities for NET, GATE, CSIR-JRF, PhD and MPhil examinations.
Scheme Started in 2021-22 to Support Backward Class Students
The Mukhyamantri Vocational Course Guidance and Motivation Scheme was launched during the financial year 2021-22.
The main objectives of the scheme are:
- Increasing participation of backward and extremely backward class students in management education.
- Supporting students aspiring for law and higher education institutions.
- Providing quality coaching and career guidance.
- Creating better employment and academic opportunities for youth.
Government Focuses on Equal Education Opportunities
The Bihar government believes that financial challenges should not prevent talented students from achieving their goals.
Through free coaching, expert guidance and financial support, the scheme is helping students prepare for competitive examinations and improve their chances of entering prestigious institutions.
