Indian Masterminds Stories

Patna/Hyderabad: Bihar and Telangana have agreed to strengthen cooperation in agriculture through technology exchange, farmer training and sharing of successful farming practices. The agreement was discussed during a meeting between Bihar Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha and Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao at the Telangana Secretariat in Hyderabad on August 12.

Senior officials from the agriculture departments of both states also attended the meeting.

Farmers to Get Cross-State Training

Vijay Kumar Sinha said both Bihar and Telangana have unique strengths and successful experiences in agriculture. Sharing these models could help farmers adopt suitable technologies and improved farming practices.

The two states will promote farmer training programmes and study visits, allowing farmers to observe successful agricultural models and understand their practical applications.

Bihar Farmers to Learn Oil Palm Farming

As part of the proposed exchange, Bihar farmers will visit Telangana to learn about oil palm cultivation, processing and oil extraction technologies.

Telangana farmers, meanwhile, will visit Bihar to gain practical knowledge about makhana cultivation, processing, value addition and marketing.

The exchange could help farmers diversify their agricultural activities and explore new income opportunities.

Technology and Innovation to Drive Agriculture

The Bihar Agriculture Minister said the state government is working to connect farmers with modern agricultural technology and scientific practices while promoting diversification, processing, value addition and better market access.

He said successful agricultural practices from other states would be studied and adapted according to Bihar’s local conditions.

The cooperation will also extend beyond farmers to agricultural scientists, experts, government officials and technical institutions. This could help speed up the transfer of agricultural knowledge and technology to the field.

Focus on Climate-Resilient Agriculture

The ministers also discussed the growing challenges posed by climate change. Sharing successful experiments and modern technologies between states could help farmers respond better to changing agricultural conditions.

The proposed collaboration is expected to strengthen knowledge exchange and encourage greater use of innovation in farming.

The Bihar government said the cooperation between the two states could create new opportunities for farmers while making agriculture more modern, productive, sustainable and value-oriented.
