Bilaspur: In a significant development push, the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) Governing Council of Bilaspur has approved development works worth ₹150 crore for the financial year 2026–27.
The meeting focused on strengthening urban infrastructure, healthcare, education, and civic amenities across the district.
Underground Electricity System Planned for Key City Areas
One of the key approvals includes the installation of an underground power distribution system in densely populated areas of the city, including:
- Golbazar
- Nehru Chowk
- Court complex area
This project aims to improve safety, reduce power disruptions, and enhance the urban landscape.

Healthcare and Emergency Response Strengthened
To improve emergency response services, the council approved:
- 3 new ambulances for the police department to transport accident victims
- Funds to strengthen district healthcare infrastructure
The health sector has been allocated ₹16 crore under the new annual plan.
Education Sector Receives Major Allocation
Education has been given strong emphasis in the DMF plan, with ₹31.64 crore allocated for various initiatives, including:
- Construction of sheds in colleges
- Infrastructure development in education centres
- Additional classrooms and school facilities
Major Fund Allocation Across Key Sectors
The approved plan includes targeted investments in multiple welfare areas:
- Drinking water projects: ₹5.60 crore
- Women and child welfare: ₹6 crore
- Environmental protection and pollution control: ₹11 crore
- Elderly and differently-abled welfare: ₹10.35 crore
- Skill development: ₹8 crore
These allocations aim to ensure balanced and inclusive development across the district.
“Siyan Sadan” to Be Built in Every Assembly Constituency
A major social welfare initiative includes the construction of “Siyan Sadan” (senior citizen centres) in every assembly constituency.
These centres will provide community space and support facilities for elderly citizens.
Other Key Approvals for Civic Development
The council also cleared several important civic and infrastructure projects, including:
- Construction of cremation grounds in Mungla, Tifra, Usalapur and Bahatarai
- Renovation of the police ground main stage
- Model Anganwadi centres in selected villages
- Installation of a hydra vehicle for traffic management
- Beautification works at Malhar temple complex
Administrative Participation in the Meeting
The DMF meeting was chaired by District Collector Sanjay Agrawal and attended by:
- Local MLAs
- District Panchayat Chairperson
- Senior police officials
- Municipal and district administration officers
The wide participation ensured detailed discussions and consensus on development priorities.
