New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has posted two officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) as Superintendents of Police (SPs) on deputation for a period of four years.
The officers posted to the premier central investigative agency are Prabhakaran S., a 2016-batch IRS officer, and Dr Aditya Prakash Bhardwaj, a 2017-batch IRS officer. Both officers bring experience from the revenue and indirect tax administration, including assignments involving tax intelligence, enforcement and senior-level coordination.
Prabhakaran S. Posted as CBI Superintendent of Police
Prabhakaran S., a 2016-batch IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer, has been posted as Superintendent of Police in the CBI on deputation.
He has served in various assignments under the Department of Revenue, including a key role as Deputy Commissioner in the Directorate General of Goods & Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI), Coimbatore Zonal Unit.
His experience in GST intelligence and financial enforcement gives him a background in dealing with cases involving tax-related irregularities and financial transactions.
Prabhakaran cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2016 and subsequently joined the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes).
Dr Aditya Prakash Bhardwaj Also Posted as SP
Dr Aditya Prakash Bhardwaj, a 2017-batch IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officer, has also been posted as Superintendent of Police in the CBI for four years.
Bhardwaj has a medical background and holds an MBBS degree from PGIMS Rohtak. After clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination, he joined the Indian Revenue Service and began his administrative career with an initial posting in Faridabad.
Over the course of his career, he went on to hold important responsibilities within the indirect tax administration. He has served as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and has also held the position of Joint Director.
His experience includes working closely with senior leadership in the CBIC and handling responsibilities associated with tax administration and enforcement.
Bhardwaj’s Social Initiatives and Poetry
Apart from his administrative responsibilities, Bhardwaj is also associated with social initiatives aimed at supporting disadvantaged students.
He runs Wecare Pathshala, an initiative focused on mentoring underprivileged youth and providing career counselling to students in government schools.
He is also known for his interest in poetry and humanitarian activities, combining his public service career with initiatives aimed at educational and social support.
Two IRS Officers Bring Revenue Expertise to CBI
The deputation of the two IRS officers comes with both officers having backgrounds in tax administration and financial enforcement.
Prabhakaran’s experience with the DGGI includes work in GST intelligence, while Bhardwaj has held responsibilities in the CBIC, including an assignment in the office of its Chairman.
Their posting as SPs will bring specialised experience from the revenue and indirect-tax ecosystem into the CBI’s investigative structure.
Both officers have been posted to the CBI for a four-year deputation tenure.
