Centre Announces Key Appointments and Extensions; CISF Gets New DIG, NDRF Chief Piyush Anand Gets Extension

Several senior IAS and IPS officers receive fresh appointments, tenure extensions and cadre-related clearances
Indian Masterminds Stories

New Delhi: In a fresh round of senior-level administrative decisions, the Union Government on Monday issued multiple notifications covering appointments, tenure extensions and cadre-related approvals involving senior IAS and IPS officers across key ministries and security organisations.

The orders include the appointment of a new Deputy Inspector General in the Central Industrial Security Force, extension of tenure of senior officers in the agriculture ministry, security establishment and disaster response leadership, along with a cadre-related decision concerning a Gujarat cadre IAS officer.

The latest set of decisions reflects continued continuity in sensitive security and administrative assignments at both the Centre and state-linked positions.

Dr Santosh Kumar Singh Appointed DIG in CISF

Dr Santosh Kumar Singh, an IPS officer of the 2011 batch from Chandigarh cadre, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General in the Central Industrial Security Force.

The CISF plays a crucial role in protecting:

• Airports

• Metro networks

• Nuclear installations

• Strategic industrial units

• Critical public infrastructure

His appointment comes at a time when CISF continues to expand operational responsibilities across high-security installations.

Agriculture Ministry Additional Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda Gets Extension

Pramod Kumar Meherda, currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has received an extension in tenure.

His tenure has been extended up to 2 September 2028.

The extension ensures continuity at a time when the department is dealing with multiple long-term policy priorities involving:

• Agricultural reforms

• Farmer welfare schemes

• Crop diversification

• Climate-linked agriculture planning

NDRF Chief Piyush Anand Gets Further Extension

Piyush Anand has been granted extension as Director General of the National Disaster Response Force.

His tenure has now been extended up to 30 March 2027.

The NDRF remains India’s lead specialised disaster-response agency handling:

• Floods

• Earthquakes

• Landslides

• Industrial accidents

• Urban rescue operations

The extension signals continuity in leadership amid increasing climate-related disaster response demands.

SPG ADG S Suresh Also Receives Extension

S Suresh, serving as Additional Director General in the Special Protection Group, has also received an extension.

His tenure has been extended up to 31 December 2026.

The SPG remains one of the country’s most sensitive security organisations with responsibility for high-level proximate protection.

Cooling-Off Waiver for Gujarat IAS Officer Ajay Kumar

Ajay Kumar, currently posted as Secretary to the Chief Minister of Gujarat, has received waiver of cooling-off period.

The waiver has been granted following his premature repatriation to parent cadre.

In administrative terms, waiver of cooling-off period allows an officer to become eligible for fresh central deputation or assignment without waiting through the standard mandatory interval.

This often happens in cases involving urgent administrative deployment.

Why These Orders Matter

Though routine in administrative terms, such appointments and extensions often indicate continuity in critical governance sectors.

The current orders affect:

• Internal security

• Disaster management

• Prime Ministerial security

• Agriculture administration

• Cadre mobility

The extensions also suggest that the Centre is retaining experienced officers in sensitive positions where institutional continuity is considered important.
