Ranchi: The Central Government has approved two significant railway infrastructure projects worth around ₹3,907 crore to strengthen rail connectivity between Jharkhand and Odisha.
The approved projects include the doubling of the Paradip–Haridaspur railway line and the construction of a fourth railway line on the Rajkharsawan–Dangoaposi section. These developments are expected to improve passenger movement, increase freight capacity, and support industrial growth in the region.
Rajkharsawan–Dangoaposi Fourth Line Project to Improve Freight Movement
The construction of a fourth railway line between Rajkharsawan and Dangoaposi will significantly enhance railway capacity in one of the country’s important mineral and industrial corridors.
The project will help improve the movement of freight trains carrying minerals and industrial goods, reducing congestion and ensuring smoother railway operations.
The improved rail infrastructure will benefit industries connected with mining, manufacturing, and logistics sectors in Jharkhand and Odisha.
Paradip–Haridaspur Rail Line Doubling to Increase Capacity
The doubling of the Paradip–Haridaspur railway line will strengthen connectivity to the important port region of Paradip.
The project is expected to improve freight transportation efficiency by increasing railway capacity and enabling faster movement of goods.
Enhanced rail connectivity will support industries, businesses, and trade activities by providing better access to markets and transportation networks.
Projects to Benefit 14 Lakh People Across 1,526 Villages
According to officials, these railway projects will directly benefit more than 14 lakh people living across 1,526 villages in Jharkhand and Odisha.

Sanjay Seth Welcomes Railway Infrastructure Approval
Union Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth welcomed the Cabinet decision and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the projects.
He said the initiatives would make railway operations between Jharkhand and Odisha more efficient while boosting industrial development and employment opportunities.
Sanjay Seth highlighted that the projects reflect the government’s commitment to developing modern railway infrastructure and strengthening economic growth through improved connectivity.
