Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed concern over delays in road, flyover and bridge projects across the state and directed officials to complete all major pending infrastructure works within the next two months.
During a high-level review meeting of the Road Construction Department at the Jharkhand Ministry on Wednesday, the Chief Minister warned that strict departmental action would be taken against officials and agencies responsible for unnecessary delays in completing important projects.
Hemant Soren Reviews Road and Bridge Projects in Jharkhand
The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of projects undertaken during the last five years, including ongoing and completed road construction works.
Officials from the Road Construction Department presented updates on various projects related to:
- Roads
- Flyovers
- Overbridges
- Bridges and culverts
- Other transport infrastructure works
Hemant Soren directed officials to identify delayed projects and ensure their completion within the given timeline.
He made it clear that accountability would be fixed if agencies or officials fail to meet the deadlines.
Mandatory Geo-Tagging and Digital Monitoring of Projects
During the meeting, Chief Minister Hemant Soren instructed the department to prepare an updated database of all infrastructure projects and make geo-tagging mandatory.
He said every project should have complete details, including:
- Total project cost
- Current progress status
- Expected completion timeline
- Construction details
According to the Chief Minister, geo-tagging will improve transparency, strengthen monitoring systems and help authorities track the progress of projects more effectively.
Focus on Road Repairs, Potholes and Waterlogging Issues
The Chief Minister also expressed concern over complaints related to poor road conditions, potholes, waterlogging and irregularities in construction works.
He said that several complaints are being received through social media, print media and electronic media regarding road-related problems.
Officials were instructed to immediately address these complaints and maintain updated records of action taken.
Priority to Road Safety During Monsoon Season
With the monsoon season underway, Hemant Soren directed officials to give priority to road safety measures across Jharkhand.
The Chief Minister ordered authorities to focus on:
- Repairing potholes on priority
- Improving drainage systems
- Preventing waterlogging on roads
- Maintaining road quality standards
- Ensuring safer transportation conditions
He also directed officials to speed up projects related to road widening and strengthening, especially in areas where narrow roads are affecting traffic movement and safety.
Pending Projects in Ranchi and Other Areas to Be Completed Soon
Hemant Soren instructed officials to give special attention to long-pending road and bridge projects in Ranchi and other parts of Jharkhand.
He emphasized that delayed infrastructure projects should be completed on priority to improve connectivity and support economic development in the state.
The meeting also included a review of new initiatives, including projects such as solar cycle tracks.
Strict Quality Standards for Construction Work
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that all construction activities follow strict quality standards.
He highlighted the need for:
- Stronger bridge and culvert edges
- Proper drainage arrangements
- Durable construction materials

He said maintaining quality is essential for ensuring long-term benefits from public infrastructure investments.
