Varanasi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is conducting the written examinations for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) and National Defence Academy (NDA) on the same day in Varanasi for the first time, with 19 examination centres set up across the district.
A total of 15,329 candidates are appearing for the two examinations. Of these, 3,912 candidates are registered for the CDS examination at eight centres, while 11,417 candidates are appearing for the NDA examination at 11 centres.
CDS Examination Held at Eight Centres
The CDS written examination is being conducted in three shifts across eight centres in Varanasi.

- First shift: 9 am to 11 am
- Second shift: 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm
- Third shift: 4 pm to 6 pm
The first two shifts had been completed, while the third shift was scheduled from 4 pm to 6 pm.
NDA Exam Underway at 11 Centres
The NDA written examination is being conducted in two shifts at 11 centres, with 11,417 candidates scheduled to appear.

Additional Monitoring Arrangements at Centres
According to District Inspector of Schools Bholendra Pratap Singh, the simultaneous conduct of the CDS and NDA examinations has led to an expanded monitoring arrangement.
Along with sector magistrates and static magistrates, Local Inspecting Officers have also been deployed for the first time to monitor arrangements at the examination centres.
Security personnel have been deployed at the centres, while army personnel are also being assigned to support security arrangements.
Candidates Asked to Reach Centres Early
Candidates have been advised to reach their respective examination centres one hour before the scheduled examination time to complete the entry process without difficulty.
District authorities are overseeing arrangements for the examinations, with emphasis on maintaining security and orderly conduct at all 19 centres.
