Chhattisgarh to Train 83 Master Trainers Across 27 KVKs for Agriculture-Based Jobs

Chhattisgarh is training 83 certified master trainers across 27 Krishi Vigyan Kendras to provide skill-based training in mushroom farming, beekeeping, organic farming and other agricultural enterprises.

Raipur: Chhattisgarh is strengthening agriculture-based skill training through its network of 27 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), with 83 participants being trained and assessed as master trainers for employment-oriented agricultural activities.

The programme is being conducted by the Directorate of Extension Services of Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV), Raipur, in collaboration with the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI).

The trainer training and certification programme is being conducted in two batches from September 8 to 12, 2026.

Training Covers Multiple Agriculture-Based Activities

The master trainers are being prepared to provide practical training in various agricultural and allied activities.

Key areas include:

  • Mushroom production
  • Organic crop production
  • Quality seed production
  • Vegetable production
  • Beekeeping
  • Vermicompost production
  • Nursery development
  • Agricultural machinery
  • Micro-irrigation
  • Fisheries
  • Poultry farming

The programme also covers aspects such as qualification packs, national occupational standards, trainer competencies, adult learning methods, training procedures and assessment.

Two Batches Include 83 Participants

The first batch comprised 41 participants and was conducted from September 8 to 10. It included two days of intensive training followed by assessment, an examination and a viva on the third day.

The second batch, being conducted from September 10 to 12, has 42 participants.

Together, the two batches comprise 83 participants, with representation from all 27 KVKs operating under Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya.

Trainers to Support Rural Skill Development

Following certification, the master trainers are expected to provide practical training to rural youth, women and farmers under the Chief Minister’s Skill Development Scheme.

The programme is intended to use the technical expertise available through KVKs for training in agriculture and allied activities based on local requirements and available resources.

Focus on Agriculture-Based Self-Employment

IGKV Vice-Chancellor Dr Girish Chandel said agricultural skill development should be linked with self-employment, value addition to local resources and agricultural entrepreneurship.

Director of Extension Services Dr S.S. Tuteja emphasised expanding skill training through the 27-KVK network based on the needs, resources and opportunities available in different districts.

The university said the initiative will focus on providing practical skills related to activities such as mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, nursery development, seed production, vermicompost and farm mechanisation.

‘Chhattisgarh Kheti’ Magazine Released

During the programme, a new issue of ‘Chhattisgarh Kheti’, a magazine aimed at farmers, was also released by the university’s vice-chancellor.

A cheque representing dividend income earned through the Directorate of Extension Services’ publication revolving fund was also handed over to the university during the programme.
