CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Launches ₹235 Crore Haridwar Ganga Corridor Projects Ahead of Kumbh Mela 2027

The infrastructure projects will redevelop Har Ki Pauri, Subhash Ghat, Rodi Belwala, and improve roads, traffic management, cleanliness, and pilgrim facilities in Haridwar.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday performed the Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone laying ceremony for various infrastructure development projects worth nearly ₹235 crore under the Haridwar Ganga Corridor.

The projects are being implemented by the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) with the objective of creating modern, safe, clean, and well-organized infrastructure facilities in Haridwar. The development work aims to provide a better experience for millions of devotees and tourists visiting the holy city every year.

Four Major Infrastructure Projects Under Ganga Corridor

During the programme held at Alaknanda Hotel in Haridwar, Chief Minister Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several key projects.

The major projects include:

  • Administrative Road Project:
    A project worth ₹43.25 crore aimed at improving connectivity and road infrastructure in Haridwar.
  • Har Ki Pauri and Subhash Ghat Redevelopment:
    A redevelopment project with an estimated cost of ₹66.76 crore to improve facilities and enhance the experience of pilgrims.
  • Infrastructure Development in North Area of Har Ki Pauri:
    Development works worth ₹66.34 crore to strengthen basic amenities and public infrastructure.
  • Rodi Belwala Area Redevelopment:
    A project costing around ₹58.84 crore for improving infrastructure and facilities in the area.

These projects are expected to significantly upgrade Haridwar’s urban infrastructure and support the increasing number of visitors.

Haridwar Ganga Corridor to Improve Pilgrim Facilities

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Haridwar is not only a major spiritual centre of Uttarakhand but also an important pilgrimage destination for millions of devotees from India and across the world.

He said the government’s vision is to transform Haridwar into a world-class religious, cultural, and tourism destination by providing modern facilities while preserving its spiritual heritage.

According to the Chief Minister, completion of the Ganga Corridor projects will strengthen infrastructure around Har Ki Pauri, Subhash Ghat, and Rodi Belwala, leading to better crowd management, improved cleanliness, enhanced security, and smoother traffic movement.

Focus on Kumbh Mela 2027 Preparations

The infrastructure projects are also expected to play an important role in preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027.

The state government is working on improving:

  • Ghats and riverfront facilities
  • Bridges and connectivity routes
  • Access roads
  • Traffic management systems
  • Public amenities

The improved infrastructure will help manage large gatherings during major religious events and provide safer and more comfortable facilities for pilgrims.

Traffic Management and Urban Development in Haridwar

Chief Minister Dhami highlighted that the government is working to improve transportation facilities in Haridwar through various religious and tourism-related projects.

He said better infrastructure will not only benefit pilgrims and tourists but will also create new employment opportunities for local residents.

The government is focusing on making Haridwar a modern city with improved facilities in areas including tourism, education, healthcare, employment, and urban development.

Projects to Be Completed Within Timeline

Officials from UIIDB presented the detailed project plans during the programme and informed that all works will be completed within the stipulated timeline while maintaining quality standards.

The projects are expected to bring long-term improvements to Haridwar’s infrastructure and strengthen the city’s position as a leading religious tourism destination.

Government’s Vision for Haridwar Development

CM Dhami said the development of Haridwar is not limited only to religious tourism. The government is taking comprehensive steps for improving modern facilities and ensuring balanced growth in the city.

He added that the pace of development work will continue in the coming years to make Haridwar cleaner, safer, and better equipped for residents as well as visitors.
