Jammu and Kashmir: The CRPF Shoot House in Kashmir marks a major step in strengthening the combat readiness of India’s security forces. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has established a modern training facility designed to improve specialised combat training for personnel deployed in sensitive areas of Jammu and Kashmir

The advanced facility will allow troops to practise close-quarters battle (CQB), room intervention, and high-risk urban combat scenarios in a controlled environment. Officials say the initiative will help CRPF personnel sharpen tactical skills, increase precision, and improve coordination during anti-terror operations in the region.

Details of CRPF Shoot House in Kashmir

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recently set up a state-of-the-art “Shoot House” at its Recruit Training Centre (RTC) in Lethpora near Srinagar. The facility was inaugurated by CRPF Director General G. P. Singh to strengthen operational preparedness of security personnel working in Kashmir.

According to official statements, the facility has been created to provide specialised training in high-risk operations such as room intervention and close-quarters battle situations that security forces often face during counter-terror missions.

The training centre is expected to significantly enhance the tactical response capabilities of CRPF personnel operating in the region.

Focus on Precision and Tactical Coordination

Officials emphasise that modern combat situations demand precision, speed, and teamwork.

The shoot house allows trainers to recreate dynamic scenarios where personnel must make quick decisions under pressure. Cameras and monitoring systems record training sessions so that instructors can conduct after-action reviews and help personnel improve their tactics.

By practising in simulated real-world environments, CRPF teams can prepare for complex operations before facing them in the field.

What Is a “Shoot House”?

A shoot house—also known as a kill house—is a specialised training structure used by military and law-enforcement agencies to practise combat in confined spaces such as buildings or houses.

These facilities simulate real-life urban environments so that troops can train under realistic conditions.

Key features of the CRPF Shoot House in Kashmir

  • Ballistic-rated walls that safely absorb bullets
  • Modular rooms that can be rearranged for different scenarios
  • Hallways, doors, windows, and staircases to mimic real buildings
  • Live-fire training areas with moving or pop-up targets
  • Monitoring systems and cameras for performance analysis

Such infrastructure allows soldiers to practise complex operations like hostage rescue, room clearing, and coordinated team movement.

How CRPF Shoot House in Kashmir Will Improve Combat Training

The new CRPF training structure has been designed specifically for close-quarters battle (CQB) and room-entry drills.

During training sessions, teams will practise:

  • Clearing rooms and hallways inside buildings
  • Identifying threats quickly in confined spaces
  • Coordinated team movement during raids
  • Hostage rescue simulations
  • Tactical entry techniques using breaching doors

These drills are crucial because many counter-terror operations in Kashmir involve encounters inside houses or buildings.

Live-fire exercises conducted inside the shoot house provide realistic combat conditions while ensuring safety through specially designed bullet-absorbing materials.

Why Such Training Is Important in Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir remains one of the most sensitive security zones in India, where counter-terror operations frequently take place.

The CRPF works closely with:

  • Jammu and Kashmir Police
  • Indian Army
  • Central investigation agencies such as the NIA, CBI, and ED

Apart from anti-terror operations, CRPF personnel also provide security for VIP movements and ensure safe passage for military convoys in the region.

Because many operations occur in densely populated urban areas, specialised training for indoor combat has become essential.

Strengthening India’s Counter-Terror Preparedness

Security experts say the addition of advanced training infrastructure like the shoot house will help CRPF units remain operationally elite.

The facility will:

  • Improve combat readiness of personnel deployed in Kashmir
  • Enhance coordination during joint operations with other forces
  • Increase efficiency in urban counter-terror missions
  • Reduce operational risks through better training

As security challenges evolve, modern training infrastructure plays a key role in ensuring that forces remain prepared for any situation.
