New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta distributed appointment letters to compassionate appointees and medical health cards to contractual employees at a special event held at the NDCC Convention Centre. The initiative was organized under the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to support employee welfare and strengthen public service delivery in the capital.
The event was attended by Delhi Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, MP Bansuri Swaraj, NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra, Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, and several council members.
NDMC Employees Play Key Role in Improving Delhi’s Image
Addressing the gathering, CM Rekha Gupta said that NDMC is not just an institution but a family working together for public service.
She highlighted that:
- NDMC plays a key role in shaping Delhi’s administrative identity
- Employees contribute significantly to improving the capital’s public image
- The region represents the core of India’s governance and democratic system
She also emphasized that compassionate appointments provide long-term support and financial stability to affected families.

109 Families Benefit Under Compassionate Appointment Scheme
The Chief Minister informed that around 109 families have received employment under the compassionate appointment scheme.
Key highlights:
- Nearly 90 women are among the beneficiaries
- Appointments aim to support families of deceased employees
- Jobs are intended to ensure financial independence and dignity
CM Rekha Gupta said the initiative provides not just employment but long-term social and economic security to families in need.
Medical Health Cards Issued Under LMHS Scheme
Along with appointment letters, the government distributed medical health cards under the Liberalised Medical Health Scheme (LMHS) for contractual employees.
Benefits include:
- Cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals
- Access to diagnostic centres
- Coverage for employees and their families
The initiative aims to improve healthcare access and financial protection for contractual workers.
Government Focus on Employee Welfare and Public Service
NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to employee welfare and administrative efficiency.
He added that beneficiaries are expected to serve with dedication and contribute to public service delivery.
He also urged employees and citizens to support sustainable development practices such as:
- Public transport and carpooling
- Electric vehicle adoption
- Energy conservation
- Digital work culture
- Promotion of Make in India products
