PM Narendra Modi’s Appeal on Energy Conservation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens across the country to use petroleum products such as petrol and diesel judiciously, citing global energy instability and rising geopolitical tensions.

He highlighted that India imports a large portion of its crude oil requirements, and excessive consumption of fuel directly impacts the country’s foreign exchange reserves and economic stability.

Global Energy Crisis and West Asia Tensions Raise Concerns

The Prime Minister’s appeal comes amid ongoing global energy uncertainty and tensions in West Asia, which have intensified concerns over fuel supply stability.

According to the government’s message, responsible consumption of petroleum products is essential to reduce the impact of international market volatility on India’s economy.

PM Urges Citizens to Treat Fuel Saving as a National Responsibility

Narendra Modi has urged citizens to adopt a mindful approach toward fuel usage and contribute to national energy security.

He stressed that unnecessary consumption of petrol, diesel, and gas could adversely affect the economy, while conservation efforts would help save foreign exchange and strengthen India’s resilience against global crises.

The Prime Minister also called upon citizens to treat energy conservation as a collective responsibility and a form of national service.

Appeal Extends to Responsible Gold Consumption

In a separate appeal, the Prime Minister also advised citizens to consider reducing gold purchases for at least one year, including during weddings and major family events. He said that reducing non-essential imports such as gold would help preserve foreign exchange reserves, which are critical for maintaining economic stability during global uncertainty.

Delhi Government Aligns with National Energy Goals

The Delhi government’s decision reflects a broader alignment with the central government’s push for energy efficiency and sustainable governance. Officials believe that reducing fuel consumption at the administrative level will set an example for citizens and strengthen awareness about energy conservation across the capital.

About Rekha Gupta Government Initiative

The initiative led by Rekha Gupta focuses on reducing fuel consumption in government operations, promoting sustainable transport practices, and supporting India’s broader energy conservation goals. The policy aims to encourage responsible resource use and align with national efforts to reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.
