Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Unveils ‘Mayur’ Mascot for Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has unveiled the official mascot ‘Mayur’ for the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026, marking a major milestone in the preparations for the international sporting event.

Inspired by India’s national bird, the peacock, the mascot represents the country’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant energy, and diversity. The championship will be held at the Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi, from July 27 to August 2, 2026, with participation expected from more than 25 Commonwealth countries.

‘Mayur’ Mascot Represents India’s Culture and Sporting Spirit

During the mascot unveiling ceremony, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted the significance of ‘Mayur’ as a symbol of India’s cultural pride and global sporting identity.

She said the mascot will not only attract sports enthusiasts but will also showcase India’s cultural values on an international platform.

The peacock-inspired mascot reflects qualities such as confidence, enthusiasm, and diversity, aligning with the spirit of sportsmanship and international cooperation.

Delhi Ready to Host Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026

The 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026 will bring together top table tennis players, officials, and representatives from more than 25 Commonwealth nations.

The week-long tournament will feature competitive matches between international players and is expected to strengthen sporting relations among Commonwealth countries.

The event will also encourage young athletes and promote the growth of table tennis at the grassroots level.

The mascot unveiling ceremony was attended by Delhi Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood and senior officials from the Table Tennis Federation of India.
