Delhi: The Delhi government has approved a ₹45 crore development plan for the modernisation of the Udyog Nagar Industrial Area in Peeragarhi, West Delhi, aiming to upgrade key infrastructure including roads, drainage, and sewage systems.
Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced that the development works will be carried out on a priority basis and will be closely monitored to ensure timely completion.
Focus on Roads, Drainage and Sewage Infrastructure
The approved funds will be primarily used to address long-standing infrastructure issues in the industrial area. Key works include:
- Repair and construction of internal roads
- Development of drainage (nala) systems
- Improvement of sewage connectivity
- Upgradation of water drainage systems to prevent waterlogging
Officials said these upgrades will significantly improve movement for heavy vehicles and ease traffic congestion within the industrial zone.
Step Towards Preventing Waterlogging in Industrial Area
A major focus of the project is to resolve waterlogging issues, especially during the monsoon season.
By strengthening drainage and sewage systems, the government aims to ensure smooth industrial operations and prevent disruptions caused by heavy rainfall.
The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) will also begin repair works of proposed roads in the area soon.
Minister Sirsa Emphasises Industrial Growth and Environmental Balance
During his visit to the industrial area, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa interacted with factory owners, workers, and industrial association representatives.
He said that industries play a crucial role in Delhi’s economic growth, but environmental protection remains a top priority.
The government, he added, is working to maintain a balance between industrial development and environmental sustainability, ensuring a safe and efficient business environment.
No Action Against Valid Borewells, Says Minister
Addressing concerns related to borewells and tubewells, the minister clarified that no action will be taken against valid connections.
He said only identified units violating environmental norms are being targeted for action.
A comprehensive policy is also being prepared to address long-term groundwater and borewell-related issues in Delhi.
Action Against Encroachment in Industrial Areas
The minister also raised concerns about illegal encroachments in industrial zones and public spaces.
He directed officials to launch a special anti-encroachment drive to remove unauthorized structures and ensure better infrastructure management in the area.

The ₹45 crore project is expected to significantly transform Udyog Nagar into a modern industrial hub with improved connectivity, better infrastructure, and smoother business operations.Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s focus on strengthening Delhi’s industrial ecosystem while improving civic amenities for workers and businesses.
