NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has assigned the current duty charge of routine duties of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Addl DCP) to 12 Selection Grade officers of the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Delhi Police Service (DANIPS).
The order, issued on October 5, 2026, covers officers from the 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 DANIPS batches who are serving in different capacities in the Delhi Police.
Importantly, the government order makes it clear that the arrangement is limited to the current duty charge of routine Addl DCP duties. It does not constitute a promotion or regular appointment of these officers to the post of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police.
12 Selection Grade DANIPS Officers Given Addl DCP Duty Charge
The officers entrusted with the current duty charge include three from the 2014 and 2015 batches, one from the 2017 batch and eight from the 2018 batch.
The 12 officers are:
- Dr Vikas Sheokand (DANIPS:2014)
- A Venkatesh (DANIPS:2014)
- Gursewak Singh (DANIPS:2015)
- Renu Lata (DANIPS:2017)
- Vidushi Kaushik (DANIPS:2018)
- Manu Himanshu (DANIPS:2018)
- Sakaria Mihir Pravinbhai (DANIPS:2018)
- Garima Tiwari (DANIPS:2018)
- Vivek Bhagat (DANIPS:2018)
- Ashish Kumar (DANIPS:2018)
- Manish Ladla (DANIPS:2018)
- Rohit Gupta (DANIPS:2018)
The assignment brings officers from different operational and specialised units within the Delhi Police into the current duty arrangement for routine Addl DCP responsibilities.
Current Postings of the Officers
Among the 12 officers, Dr Vikas Sheokand, A Venkatesh and Gursewak Singh are currently under posting.
The remaining officers are serving in a range of field, women-and-child protection, investigation, security and specialised police assignments.
Renu Lata, a 2017-batch DANIPS officer, is currently serving as ACP, Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC).
Among the 2018-batch officers, Vidushi Kaushik is posted as SDPO, Sadar Bazar, North District, while Manu Himanshu is serving as ACP, DE Cell.
Sakaria Mihir Pravinbhai is posted as SDPO, Lajpat Nagar, South-East District, and Garima Tiwari is serving as SDPO, Tilak Nagar, West District.
Vivek Bhagat is posted as SDPO, Connaught Place, New Delhi District.
The other three 2018-batch officers included in the order are serving in specialised assignments. Ashish Kumar is posted as ACP, Special Cell, Manish Ladla is serving as ACP, Crime, and Rohit Gupta is posted as ACP, Security.
Arrangement Does Not Mean Promotion
The most significant aspect of the order is the clarification regarding the nature of the assignment.
The Delhi Government has specifically stated that assigning the current duty charge of routine duties of Addl DCPshould not be interpreted as a promotion of the officers to the Addl DCP rank.
Nor does the order constitute their regular appointment as Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police.
The officers will therefore continue to hold their substantive positions and service status, while being entrusted with the specified routine duties under the current duty arrangement.
Officers From Multiple DANIPS Batches
The order covers officers belonging to four different DANIPS batches.
Dr Vikas Sheokand and A Venkatesh are from the 2014 batch, while Gursewak Singh belongs to the 2015 batch. Renu Lata is from the 2017 batch.
The largest group comprises the 2018-batch DANIPS officers, with Vidushi Kaushik, Manu Himanshu, Sakaria Mihir Pravinbhai, Garima Tiwari, Vivek Bhagat, Ashish Kumar, Manish Ladla and Rohit Gupta included in the arrangement.
The distribution reflects the government’s decision to entrust current duty responsibilities to Selection Grade DANIPS officers serving across different branches and districts of the Delhi Police.
Current Duty Charge in Delhi Police
The current duty arrangement enables the officers to discharge routine responsibilities associated with the Addl DCP level without changing the substantive status of their appointments.
The 12 officers bring experience from district policing as well as specialised units such as the Special Cell, Crime, Security, SPUWAC and the DE Cell.
The latest order therefore places a group of experienced Selection Grade DANIPS officers in charge of routine Addl DCP duties while maintaining the distinction between current duty charge and formal promotion or regular appointment.
